Have you taken Wellbutrin SR? 2. Did it work for you? 3. Did you lose weight? 4. How long have you been taking it? 5. What other side effects did it cause? 6. Overall, are you satisfied with it? Anyone's input is appreciated, I just need information. The stuff on the medical websites is helpful, but i want to hear about people's experiences with it. My doctor put me on wellbutrin to quit smoking. It is an anti-depressant serotonin booster and a lot of people taking it just quit smoking all of a sudden...I have been on it for about 6 months or so, maybe a little longer. I started on 150mg which is the lowest dose and I felt like I was on serious drugs for the first week or two on it. I took it in the morning and wouldn't be hungry all day, I couldn't sleep, I was staying up until like 3 am and getting up at 7...I was shaky and didn't think I liked it. But that wore off after I got used to it. I did not quit smoking...but it seemed to even out my moodiness. I am an extremely moody woman. Happy one minute and then if my husband looks at me funny I may either cry or be mad. And I calmed down a lot on it. I went to the doctor yesterday again because it doesn't seem to be having the same effect, I'm getting moody and grumpy a lot again. She found out my thyroid is off and upped my wellbutrin to 300mg. And today I ate a piece of toast and had several cups of coffee, I'm not hungry and I feel all shaky again. Overall yes I am very happy with it and may take it forever. And when I started it I lost about 10 lbs. recently I gained it back...and now that my dose is higher I'll probably lose it again. Answered by Yun Scharff 3 months ago.

Hello, I went to the Dr yesterday because I wanted to start the new year right and quit dipping tobacco. I told him a friend at work was taking Zyban and it was working well with him. He is even loosing weight. The Dr, to my suprise, told me that Zyban was just a renamed Antidepressant. He said that the Drug Co found out that people that were on this drug actually quit smoking and he was sure it would work for my Dipping Tobacco. Well, to be honest I have been rather depressed lately with my marriage failing and getting cut back at work so I figured I would give it a try. The Dr assured me that it was a very safe drug that has been on the market for a long time and the US Military even gave it to people for smoking cessation. I told him I heard that antidepressants gave bad side effects and even made people fat and men couldn't get it up and he assured me this drug was different. He said most people lose weight on this drug and that my sex life would more than likely get better. So, I am kinda scared. I never liked taking drugs but I am going to start this weekend. My instructions say take 150mg a day for 7 days then 300mg a day. I really want peoples opinion on this drug, people who have taken it and what their experiences have been especially a guys opinion on the better sex part. Thank you Answered by Jamey Murr 3 months ago.

I take generic Wellbutrin SR (150 mg) in the morning, and Lexapro (10 mg) with dinner, for depression and anxiety. I've been taking that for over two years, and it's working very well for me. The Wellbutrin SR seems to help me to be more alert and active - and wanting to do things - while the Lexapro makes me more mellow, and it helps me sleep better, too. They are relatively low doses of each medication, which keeps side effects at a minimum. I really can't tell I'm taking any medication at all. There are a lot of people that take Wellbutrin with their SSRI's, it helps to counteract some of the possible side effects - such as drowsiness, weight gain, and the sexual side effects. It really does make a difference!! Answered by Erick Onken 3 months ago.

prescribed Wellbutrin or Zyban it is essential that you tell your doctor about any other medications that you are taking as there are a number of other drugs and substances that can interact with Bupropion and this includes prescription drugs, herbal remedies, vitamins and over the counter preparations like cough medicines etc. You should also tell your doctor if you drink a lot of alcohol, coffee or other drinks containing caffeine, if you smoke or use illegal drugs, if you are taking sedatives, or MAOIs (monoamine oxidase inhibitors), or any other drug containing Bupropion, and if you suffer from any medical complaint. In particular your doctor should be fully aware if you suffer or have ever suffered from any of the following conditions as Bupropion may not be suitable or may only be advisable at a reduced dose: Epilepsy,Eating disorders, Cerebral tumours, Kidney failure, Liver failure, Alcoholism, A head injury or trauma, Insomnia, An allergic reaction to Bupropion, Diabetes, Suicidal thoughts, Tourettes syndrome, Heart disease. You should also inform your doctor if you are currently pregnant or are trying to conceive or if you are breastfeeding or if you are due to undergo surgery or any other treatment in the near future. Some side effects are more common than others and there are some that are more serious than others. Side effects associated with Bupropion can include: Dry mouth, Changes in taste, Insomnia, Headache, Constipation, Nausea, Tremor, Agitation,Dizziness, Increased sweating, Weight loss, Mania, hallucinations, Seizures, Irritability, Depression, Anxiety, Irregular heartbeat or palpitations, Chest pain, Abdominal pain, Rash and eczema, hives, Raised blood pressure, Difficulty breathing or wheezing, Confusion, Blurred vision, Fatigue, Loss of interest in sex, Swelling of face, tongue and throat You should tell your doctor immediately if you experience any dramatic changes in mood or behaviour, particularly if you feel depressed or have suicidal thoughts and if you are feeling overly agitated, hostile, anxious or hyperactive, and if you are having any trouble sleeping. he is right..... Wellbutrin is not like any other anti depressant. It is more likely to make you lose weight and it will more likely increase your sex drive. I loved it at first but had to stop taking it because I am Bipolar and it sent me into a manic episode (it won't do that to you, it only does that if you are Bipolar). I don't think I've ever heard anyone say anything bad about Wellbutrin. Answered by Mathew Barnhouse 3 months ago.

Unfortunately, I have had a lot of experience with taking anti-depressants and Wellbutrin SR is one of the better medications. Vary rarely are there any side effects. I took it for 3 years and the only reason I had to go off of it is because I had to start going to the VA when I lost my job. Answered by Maryetta Bemiller 3 months ago.

Hello all... I was recently prescribed Wellbutrin SR 100mg daily. Today is my 2nd day of adherence to this medication. I was wondering if others could share me their Wellbutrin experiences: Side effects, the pros and cons, how long did it take for it to take effect, etc. Someone also once told me that Wellbutrin can permamently mess up your brain chemistry--that you'll never be the same person again afterwards. Kind of frigtening. I searched the Internet for information but there is just too much scaremongering and pharma companies trying to sell the product. Although it's only been day 2, I'm feeling awfully drowsy and I'm normally a very high-energy person. I'm not sure if it's from the Wellbutrin or not (although I've been having trouble sleeping for the past few days). Any input would be greatly appreciated! Answered by Marketta Lanfor 3 months ago.

I'm not on Wellbutrin or other meds. but in my medical awareness, for the benefits of Wellbutrin over other products serving the same purpose, one must monitor any strange reactions or unusual side effects or undesirable consequences from taking the medication and report these anomalies to you doctor in a timely way. Drowsiness is always noted at the beginning of taking this type or purpose of med. and as the body adjusts to the working of the product, this condition fades away and spin off sleep disorders stabilize. Any antidepressant or mood elevating prescription has a slightly different effect and group of side effects to each individual, as each of us is slightly different in our brain chemistry and emotional make up. There in is the reason why self monitoring is essential. For males, antidepressant medications can interfere with the ability to achieve erection. For a guy that is huge! Wellbutrin is a med. which is noted for having the least sexual side effects for both men and women. As for messing up your brain! ...Most people who are prescribed this type of a med. would find their brain far more messed up from not taking the medication. The medication is helping out where a chemical imbalance is already taking place, and that commonly resulting from an extended period of emotional depression, sleep deprivation, oppression, emotions associated with a loss like through death or the death of a relationship. Being bullied upsets brain chemistry as do many things and trauma related experiences to the extent of triggering schizophrenia or what we know as a bipolar disorder. Genetics can play a part in the equation. Many people feel well in a short time because of the medication and as a consequence quit taking it. Don't make that mistake thinking that it's doing bad stuff to your brain. Let your doctor decide when you should go off the med. Me! :- ) Answered by Cruz Schraeder 3 months ago.

i'm on wellbutrin 300mg. when i first started taking it i lost my appetite and i felt drowsy too but that goes away in a few days or week. never heard of it messing with your brain chemistry though. go to www.drugs.com and type in wellbutrin and it will show you the side effects...etc. But honestly i don't take my depression medication anymore cause i'm a drinker and you can't drink alcohol with medication. Wellbutrin SR and Alcohol?
I am not a big drinker by no means but I do like one occasionally. A beer or two and an mixed drink every once in a while. Can casual drinking be bad with this drug? I know my pharmacy instruction say NO alcohol but just a little? What are your experiences? Thank You! Asked by Cassy Pereira 3 months ago.

In some cases Wellbutrin can lower alcohol tolerance, and excessive drinking while taking the drug may cause seizures. Light to moderate drinking (often defined as 1-2 standard drinks per day or less) will probably not cause problems, but you should talk to your doctor if you are concerned. My personal experience while taking Wellbutrin has been that a small amount of alcohol does not affect me in a noticeable way, but I would advise that you proceed cautiously until you know how they will interact in your system. Answered by Kyle Shaffstall 3 months ago.

What's the point of taking the Wellbutrin when you continue to self medicate. Taking an anti depressant then counter acting it with a known depressant is pointless. Yes it will interact with the Wellbutrin, I'm not sure how but I was told to never mix psych meds and alcohol. If you want to get better stop the drinking. Answered by Vance Ahrns 3 months ago.

One should not drink alcohol on any antidepressant as this defeats the purpose of getting well in the first place. Alcohol is a depressant and will eliminate the effects of this medication and one has to start all over again. It's just not worth it, and if you are not a big drinker then you won't miss it anyway, right? No alcohol, mean no alcohol, not just a little. Mental health should always be the first priority. Answered by Ami Galfayan 3 months ago.

Most drugs say no alcohol, but a few drinks while taking Wellbutrin won't cause any problems, some drugs like Duloxetine and Atomoxetine will give you liver damage if you take them with alcohol. Answered by Felicita Garner 3 months ago.

The truth is that it is just a lousy antidepressant. It isn't going to make your emotions stronger, or kill you if you drink some. If you get drunk and take xanax then you will most likely act nuts because it's a very bad combo. If you get drunk and take elevil sleeping pills you most likely will die. There are just warnings on about every pill that you should not take it with alcohol. Answered by Dania Rech 3 months ago.

I am on a bunch of medicines,I usually drink a half glass of a highball. The only time I drink is when I am home. The drink just makes the medicine work a lot faster. I might have three drinks a year. Answered by Catherin Stellings 3 months ago.

Come Thursday, I'll have been on it for 2 weeks. I haven't had side effects from it(nor do I feel any positive effects, either). I have heard ringing of the ears can be a side effect. Wellbutrin side effects Side effects cannot be anticipated. If any develop or change in intensity, inform your doctor as soon as possible. Only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking Wellbutrin. Side effects of Wellbutrin may include: Agitation, constipation, dizziness, dry mouth, excessive sweating, headache, nausea, vomiting, skin rash, sleep disturbances, tremor Side effects of Wellbutrin SR may include: Agitation, constipation, dizziness, dry mouth, insomnia, nausea, rash, sweating, weight loss Side effects of Wellbutrin XL may include: Abdominal pain, agitation, anxiety, constipation, diarrhea, dizziness, dry mouth, heart palpitations, increased urination, insomnia, muscle soreness, nausea, rash, ringing in the ears, sore throat, sweating Answered by Bernard Stoneham 3 months ago.

The best thing to do for side effects of medication is to ASK YOUR DOCTOR. Anyone here on Yahoo! can diagnose you and diagnose you incorrectly. No one here knows your health history or anything about you. If the side effects bother you--and I can see why feeling bloated and the tinnitus might be bothersome--then ask the doc who prescribed the medicine about these side effects. If you don't feel like it requires an appointment, then phone and leave a message. But it would be irresponsible for people online who don't know you and have never met you to say that what you're experiencing is normal or common or okay. Answered by Mi Mechanic 3 months ago.

The first thing to do is to read the information that came with the prescription to see if any of that is listed in the side effects. You could also ask the pharmacist, that is what they are there for. They will answer any drug related question you have without having to call the doctor, and can tell you if it is serious enough to call the doctor. Answered by Gerry Brus 3 months ago.

Try lookinat the site under side effects. I have heard of people gaining weight, but the ringing is different. If the side effects persist, you may wnt to ask about switiching to another brandf antidepressent/anxiety medication. Good luck to you! Answered by Kristle Benwarc 3 months ago.

Answered by Antonietta Mottinger 3 months ago.

wellbutrin is a stimulant type antidepressant. it is related to a tenuate, an old diet pill from the 70's. if you have to take xanax for anxiety, you probably should not be on a stimulant such as wellbutrin as it can cause increased anxiety. smoking weed would probably be ok . in fact, it may alleviate your anxiety. i would discuss switching antidepressants with your doctor. perhaps, a different antidepressant would eliminate the need for xanax. Answered by Karry Roundy 3 months ago.

Wellbutrin decreases your seizure threshold (make you greater probably to have a seizure). This blended with alcohol is an additive threat. besides the fact that nor is seen secure, Prozac is slightly greater appropriate for that reason by myself. Answered by Demetria Toledano 3 months ago.
