What is vicodin?
vicodin Asked by Lakeshia Tsuda 4 months ago.

Google it honey. It's an extremely strong painkiller. Here's more: Vicodin is a tablet containing a combination of acetaminophen and hydrocodone. Vicodin is used to relieve moderate to severe pain. Side effects for Vicodin include an allergic reaction, seizures, clammy skin, severe weakness, dizziness, hyperventilation, unconsciousness, yellowing of eyes or skin, unusual fatigue, bleeding, bruising, constipation, dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, decreased appetite, muscle twitches, sweating, hot flashes, itching, tinnitus, hearing loss, decreased urination, and decreased sex drive.[3] Vicodin (in terms of hydrocodone) also has depressant effects on the central nervous system.[4] However, some of the less mundane effects can be desirable effects that are sought after by some. Those effects include euphoria and drowsiness, as well as slowing of the pulse.[5] Vicodin may also be a cause of stomach ulcers, although this is assumed to be due to the addition of other non-narcotic analgesics to hydrocodone preparations (e.g., paracetamol, aspirin, and ibuprofen). Answered by Francesca Wakeman 4 months ago.

I can say it's not that addictive, nor in the realm of Pain is it that strong. I take it for pain and as I have a bulit an immunity or whatever you want to call it, It is no longer strong, moraphine and oxycodone are much stronger. Answered by Latesha Blessman 4 months ago.

VICODIN???????????????
i got back from the doctors and they prescribed vicodin for my pain. How does vicodin make you feel? Am i going to get addicted to it? I know people that have been:( Asked by Raymond Braune 4 months ago.

SIDE EFFECTS: Side effects for Vicodin are most commonly upset stomach, nausea, and altered mental status (eg. dizziness, light headedness). Other more rare side effects include allergic reaction, seizures, clammy skin, severe weakness, dizziness, hyperventilation, unconsciousness, jaundice (yellowing of eyes or skin), unusual fatigue, bleeding, bruising, stomach pain, constipation, dry mouth, decreased appetite, muscle twitches, sweating, hot flashes, itching, tinnitus, hearing loss, decreased urination, and altered sex drive. Vicodin also has depressant effects on the central nervous system. However, some of the less mundane effects can be desirable effects that are sought after by some. Those effects include euphoria and drowsiness, as well as slowing of the pulse. Unlike NSAIDs, Paracetamol does not cause ulcers. Liver damage can manifest ranging from abdominal pain to outright liver failure, and can necessitate a liver transplant to avoid death. Paracetamol dosages should never exceed 4g a day; this is especially important and may be a smaller number when dealing with mixed drugs like Vicodin. It is imperative that users of this drug follow physician prescribed dosages. ADDICTION: Tolerance to this drug may develop rapidly, especially if it is misused. This tolerance will usually manifest itself by analgesic effects wearing off faster, and people needing higher dosages to reach the analgesic effects. It is commonly misused or used excessively because people take too much in order to relieve their pain faster. Taking more of the drug does increase its efficacy but it also increases its addictive properties. When tolerance does develop, people are often forced to seek out more and more Vicodin, but as it is a controlled substance, there are regulations on how much can be legally prescribed. This often leads to societal/legal consequences as people will visit many doctors and/or try to buy the drug illegally. The withdrawal effects of Vicodin include things such as insomnia, night sweats, tremors, and agitation. People looking for the secondary effects of the drug often abuse many forms of prescription drugs. Vicodin is a potentially addictive drug, specifically due to the hydrocodone in it.Some people have reported using hydrocodone-containing products to help them calm down and focus. There have been reports of severe hearing loss and deafness associated with the abuse of Vicodin. If taken at the normal prescribed dosages, the risk of hearing loss is very minimal. It is interesting to note that in people who use these drugs for recreational purposes there are sex differences. Women tend to feel less "in control on their thoughts" and more report, "feeling bad" more often than men. People given logic examinations while under the influence of this drug showed an increase in incorrect answers, but spent more time on the exams. This suggests that this drug may be aiding in attention. It is again important to note that clinically prescribed dosages Answered by Adele Wagemann 4 months ago.

What are the effects of snorting Vicodin?
half a pill? a full pill? I dont need to hear " don't do it" trust me..I dont even own Vicodin. My boyfriend snorts it sometimes..so I wanna know what is so great about it? what does he get out of it? Asked by Isabell Mckenley 4 months ago.

Well Vicodin belongs in the Opiate family right along with Heroin and codeine. It can be highly addictive. Them more he snorts it the more he will want because the body develops a tolerance to it. The affects on the body would be similar as taking it orally: Do not use any other over-the-counter cough, cold, allergy, or pain medication without first asking your doctor or pharmacist. Acetaminophen is contained in many cold and pain medicines available over the counter. If you take certain products together you may accidentally take too much acetaminophen. Read the label of any other medicine you are using to see if it contains acetaminophen. Do not drink alcohol while you are taking Vicodin. Dangerous side effects or death can occur when alcohol is combined with hydrocodone. Check the label of any other medicines you take to be sure they do not contain alcohol. Avoid using other medicines that make you sleepy (such as cold medicine, pain medication, muscle relaxers, and medicine for seizures, depression or anxiety). They can add to sleepiness caused by hydrocodone, which could result in extreme drowsiness or coma. What are the possible side effects of Vicodin? Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. Call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects: * shallow breathing, slow heartbeat; * seizure (convulsions); * cold, clammy skin; * confusion; * severe weakness or dizziness; or * feeling light-headed, fainting. Less serious side effects are more likely to occur, such as: * constipation; * urinating less than usual; * nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite; * dizziness, headache; or * itching. Side effects other than those listed here may also occur. Talk to your doctor about any side effect that seems unusual or that is especially bothersome. What other drugs will affect Vicodin? Before taking this medication, tell your doctor if you are using any of the following drugs: * an MAO inhibitor such as isocarboxazid (Marplan), phenelzine (Nardil), rasagiline (Azilect), selegiline (Eldepryl, Emsam), or tranylcypromine (Parnate); or * antidepressants such as amitriptyline (Elavil, Etrafon), amoxapine (Ascendin), clomipramine (Anafranil), desipramine (Norpramin), imipramine (Janimine, Tofranil), nortriptyline (Pamelor), protriptyline (Vivactil), or trimipramine (Surmontil). If you are using any of these drugs, you may not be able to use Vicodin, or you may need dosage adjustments or special tests during treatment. There may be other drugs not listed that can affect Vicodin. Tell your doctor about all the prescription and over-the-counter medications you use. This includes vitamins, minerals, herbal products, and drugs prescribed by other doctors. Do not start using a new medication without telling your doctor. Answered by Jannette Moenius 4 months ago.

Snorting Vicodin Answered by Keira Carriveau 4 months ago.

NOT ****, lol!! You're better off swallowing it, where you'll get a time released numbness. After some habitual use, though, you'll become dependent on it. I've been to rehab twice (for other drugs) and pain killers have the second worst detox I've seen, just under heroin. So, just be careful. To create the full effect, take 4 pills over the course of a day. Just don't do it too often. Keep in mind it's all gotta end some time- I've been sober almost a year now. Answered by Wilhelmina Tilbury 4 months ago.

Snorting any kind of drug is one of the quickest ways to get high. It can cause severe erosion of your nasal passages over time. And, anytime you put anything up your nose or into your system any other way, you're risking brain damage, severe allergic reaction and a ton of other things. If you care about your BF then do something to get him some help. If he won't listen, then get as far away as you can because addiction usually progresses. Right now it's occasionally and one drug. it won't be very long until he moves onto something worse. Answered by Lavern Kendal 4 months ago.

Tell him there's no point in snorting it, swallowing them has the same effect and the extra stuff they put in it (asprin, acetaminophen) is bad for your nose. I don't see how half or even 1 Vicodin could do anything though, I need 3 to get a good high and I'm only 118lbs. Answered by Harriette Shreiner 4 months ago.

it will effect you the same as swallowing it, except that it feels bad going into the nostril. It can damage his nasal passage. Among other things this type of behavior WILL lead to other drugs going up the nose. Believe me , I am a junkie from hell. Except for the fact that I am now 5 years clean/sober. It is a long walk back home after someone starts to do this kind of drug. Im not gonna tell u dont do it, cuz I believe we all need to experience the things we got to experience. But please be careful and if you havent done it think alot about it before you do. Answered by Mitsuko Rubright 4 months ago.

snorting shouldnt be a big problem. it really shouldnt damaging anything histologically speaking. only problem might be dependance. vicodin is pretty safe. dont forget, people take it all the time for pain management. just tell your boyfriend to stop before it becomes habitual. Answered by Vilma Russon 4 months ago.

Hahhahaa my room mate would take so much of that sh*t. You basically become very dizzy. You might hallucinate, get a blurry vision. CONSTIPATION LOL. Also your heart rate might speed up. Don't use it too much tho. Several months of continuous use and you're basically screwed. Answered by Federico Maclaurin 4 months ago.

Why do people abuse vicodin?
Why do people find vicodin addicting? What does it do to them? Asked by Robbie Magallanes 4 months ago.

Vicodin is VERY addictive. It's 'hydrocodone' ... a 'substitute' for codeine. I live with 'severe pain,' and have a prescription for Vicodin, but evidently there is something in my body that doesn't react to it the way most people do. Frankly, I've been without any Vicodin for over three weeks now, taking just acetominophen, and I can't tell any difference at all. Other people, though, tell me that they feel 'slightly high' and 'invincible' when on Vicodin ... I can't 'argue' with that, I suppose, but it doesn't do anything for me except relieve PART of my pain. It's not the 'high' that is addicting, though, it's the 'chemical reaction' to Vicodin in the body ... but again, I seem to be 'immune' to that, too ... so in a way, I'm like you, and wondering why so many people abuse the drug. Answered by Pearle Guimond 4 months ago.

Opiates such a Vicodin give most people a general euphoric feeling in the body and in the mind. It makes people relax, and in some people it makes them feel energized. Vicodin is a poor choice for an addiction. The standard Vicodin 5/500 is 5mg hydrocodone and 500 mg Tylenol. Taking the amount it requires to get "a really good buzz" could result in some serious/permanent liver damage. A better alternative (to save the liver anyway) might be morphine. Answered by Barton Sarcone 4 months ago.

It's a central nervous system depressant. Many people find it relaxing and calming due to this. Usually people who are hyper or nervous would find it's relaxing properties addicting. And there are some people who have ADHD but it's undiagnosed so they relax when taking vicodin. This medication also produces euphoria, a high feeling of well being. In addition to this, of course, is pain relief, which is what most people take it for, at least starting out. But if they have chronic pain and take it for longer than a few weeks, it becomes addictive. Not just physically but psychologically as well. Hope this helps. Answered by Serena Feierman 4 months ago.

Painkillers in general are addicive. Like tylenol or advil. EXTRA STRENTGH lol. The drug itself is very strong. Vicodin is a painkiller, hardcore painkiller, that numbs all the pain. It's addictive if you take it for a long time because it's so strong, and gets rid of the pain, you'll want it more. Vicodin is mostly used on surgeries or something, like if you broke a leg or, you're using a cane. Answered by Kellye Eiland 4 months ago.

Why Do People Abuse Answered by Charita Selz 4 months ago.

It activtes endorphins in the brain which make you feel good and gives you a false sense of well being. It is a mood altering drug. For me personally, I have found that I don't really get that feeling from it though, but it does work really well for pain for me though. Many painkilling drugs, such as morphine and codeine, act like endorphins and actually activate opiate receptors. Besides behaving as a pain regulator, endorphins are also thought to be connected to physiological processes including euphoric feelings. Answered by Epifania Cope 4 months ago.

Vicodan does for others what Tylenol 3 or 4 does for me. T3 is codeine, Vicodan is synthetic codeine. Vicodan makes me hallucinate, and T3 relieves the pain, all of it, and leaves me feeling alert but at peace with the world. If I didn't know how addicted I could become to T3, I'd have been in trouble long ago. It is the only prescription drug that relieves the pain. Answered by Kris Styborski 4 months ago.

i was addicted to it long before they realized how addicting it could be. I got hooked on it by my dentist when I was having problems with my wisdom teeth. It took me about 6 months to get where I could fall asleep on my own. I really loved the stuff back then. Glad I got off the stuff before it got more out of hand Answered by Chante Slemp 4 months ago.

THE DANGERS OF VICODIN USE: Another danger of abusing Vicodin is that it contains Acetaminophen(tylenol) which longterm use or abuse can cause LIVER DAMAGE or FAILURE. Symptoms of withdrawal include restlessness, muscle and bone pain, insomnia, diarrhea, vomiting, cold flashes with goose bumps involuntary leg movements, watery eyes, runny nose, loss of appetite, irritability, panic, nausea, chills, and sweating. Yesterday I mixed alcohol with 6 vicodins and today I mixed alcohol with 4 vicodins. Yesterday I threw up A LOT and I woke up just fine and today I threw up a little bit. After doing a bit of research on mixing the 2, I read that it can cause liver damage and even death. Please leave a reasonable answer and do not scare me, just tell me the truth. I do not know how much mg the vicodin was. Answered by Melany Arseneault 4 months ago.

Vicodin is Really Dangerous When Taken With Alcohol Alcohol and Vicodin are both Central Nervous System (CNS) Depressants, which mean they both slow down the brain and spinal cord. Most importantly, they slow down the hypothalamus, the part of the brain that controls breathing, blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, and various other important functions. When working together, the additive effects of both substances result in greater CNS depression, creating a dangerous effect that could stop breathing altogether. Taking these two drugs together can easily result in overdose, especially since it is hard to keep track of doses and drinks. Learn about other dangerous drug combinations. Even “harmless” and “careful” amounts will intensify adverse effects, such as impaired judgment, clouded thinking, and incoordination, which all increase the risk of physical harm both to you and others around you. Driving can be especially dangerous since the individual thinks that he or she “didn’t drink enough to get drunk” so driving “is no problem.” In reality, Vicodin has similar effects to a couple of more drinks, making driving or other activities just as dangerous—and deadly. Vicodin Is Dangerous Because Acetaminophen Kills Your Liver When most people think of Vicodin overdose (OD), they assume death occurs from the opioid hydrocodone (the active ingredient in Vicodin). Little do they know that acetaminophen—our innocent, everyday Tylenol—is the cause of death! Vicodin is a combination drug, a mixture of acetaminophen and hydrocodone. A typical dosage contains 5 mg of hydrocodone and 500 mg of acetaminophen. So in a single pill of Vicodin, the acetaminophen content is 100 times greater than the amount of hydrocodone! People also mistakenly think that acetaminophen (Tylenol) couldn’t possibly be as harmful as hydrocodone—after all, it has none of hydrocodone’s addicting properties, nor does it depress the CNS. How could it possibly kill? Acetaminophen kills because it is toxic to your liver—the organ that has over 500 crucial functions. Taking 1000 mg (1 gram) of acetaminophen at one time could cause permanent liver damage if done regularly. More than 4000 mg (4 grams) could poison you and cause severe adverse effects; over 7000 (7 grams) will definitely kill you. Any more than 2 tablets every 6 hours could potentially land you in the hospital (if these are the standard 5/500 Vicodin pills). So don’t even think about taking as many pills as you can until the hydrocodone “high” is satisfactory; the acetaminophen overdose will land you in the hospital way before you reach that point. Other points to consider: Alcohol can also damage your liver, and people drinking more than 2 standard drinks of alcohol a day should limit acetaminophen consumption to 2,000 mg (2 grams). Be cautious when you take other drugs that contain acetaminophen (Tylenol, Percocet) along with Vicodin. The amount of acetaminophen you take per day should not exceed 4,000 mg. Which drugs and alcohol combinations don't mix? Answered by Christopher Neidhardt 4 months ago.

Vicodin And Alcohol Answered by Valeria Ruttan 4 months ago.

You need to be scared because it's true that it can kill you if enough of both is taken during the same time frame. Both have a depressant effect that can send a person into respiratory failure followed by heart failure and death. This is how Whitney Houston died, by drinking the previous night and then taking pills the next day before the booze wore off. I don't think it was Vicodin, but still the same effect. There are many narcotics that can do this. Never drink and take pills at the same time. That includes anti depressants and anti anxiety drugs like Xanax. It's best to be safe and just not take any while you drink or still have the effects from drinking going on. Answered by Yesenia Gekas 4 months ago.

You should never take any psychoactive drugs with alcohol. i mean why would you want a downer like booze when vicodin gives you both a calming effect and euphoria? i find alchohol in my middle age now makes me so depressed, even one beer, i got to drink a couple cups of coffee. and the coffee does work to counteract that horrible depression i get from booze. Answered by Serena Rivlin 4 months ago.

You are already worried and have researched the consequences. It all depends on how susceptible your liver is to damage. I would not take the chance as my life means more to me than becoming a zombie and then dead. If your life has little value to you keep doing what you are doing and you will find out if it is okay or not. Good Luck! Answered by Sheridan Sutton 4 months ago.

Yes. Medically there is a drug interaction between alcohol and Hydrocodone so I would advise against it. Are you dying. No. Could if you repeatedly do this. Yes. There is no black and white answer because there are so many variable.
