Is Sporanox a good or bad medicine for fungas treatment ?
Asked by Mackenzie Keas 2 years ago.
Very good for susceptible fungi. Care must be taken to avoid drug interactions with which can be severe if careless. Itraconazole is the generic name for Sporanox, one of the azole (a triazole, specifically) antifungals Indications: Systemic mycosis (fungi widespread through the body): 200mg orally once daily with food (up to maximum of 400mg/day if unsatisfactory clinical response with lower dose). Doses >200mg are given in 2 divided doses. Onychomycosis(fungal nail bed infections): 200mg orally twice daily for 1 week each month for 2 months (fingernails); x 3-4 months (toenails). Oropharyngeal candidiasis("thrush" in the mouth) 200mg (20ml)-oral solution-swish vigorously then swallow once daily x 1-2 weeks. Esophageal candidiasis (thrush fungus inside the tube connecting mouth and stomach 100mg (10ml) oral solution--swish and swallow once daily x 3 weeks. May increase to 200mg/day. Life-threatening infections (might include blood borne infection, meningitis, pneumonia or cerebral abscesses) Loading dose: 200mg orally 3 times daily should be given for the first 3 days of therapy, then 200-400mg/day. How long does it take for Itraconazole(Sporanox) to show signs of effectiveness?
I've started taking the meds on March 3rd(for a toenails that suffered trauma) and I'm not seeing any difference. Usually my nails grow fairly quickly but they seem to growing slowly ever since I started taking the meds.
Asked by Claretha Makuch 2 years ago.
I've used Sporanox for toenail fungus. It takes a long time to see the results. One year or more, and in my case it took four treatments of sporanox, followed by clotrimazole drops. SO be patient. Answered by Reginia Bory 2 years ago.

What's the strongest oral drug for treating tinea versicolor?
Sporanox has stopped working. ;-(
Asked by Laverne Kazi 2 years ago.
Ketoconazole is the most commonly used. Often oral meds are not needed for tinea versicolor. It tends to be recurrent so if it has recurred, that is not medication failure. It just means better topical management is needed. Topical ketoconazole or selenium sulfide is often used. Answered by Nichole Halladay 2 years ago.

How long does Sporanox take to work for a toenail fungus?
Asked by Kristi Colen 2 years ago.
For or against, I think you mean against and it takes real long time until this fungus is gone. You can see that it works, but when you stop it, the fungus will be right back so you have to continue until it's gone and that takes months, I know that because my wife had this problem some time ago.. I'm having onychomycosis and after 1 cycle of Sporanox it didn't go. Why?
i have sweaty palms. Is it related to the condition?
Asked by James Yaeger 2 years ago.
The treatment is to be continued till the nails grow up healthy from roots and it may take up to 6 months. The execessive sweating could be due to calcium deficiency. Answered by Lauren Rotenberg 2 years ago.
Sporonox didn't work for me either. Treatment should last 3 months and you may be cured ,but it takes 6 months to a year to grow out the nail to notice. I used Lamisil 250mg every day for 3 months. It worked great. I guess it's just physician's preference. Sweaty palms? Well, keep your feet dry, change your sock everyday and spray your shoes with Lysol once a week and wash them if you can. Answered by Kristeen Daven 2 years ago.
I agree that 6mo to a year is a more realistic time frame to see clearing of the nail. I doubt your sweaty palms contributed too much, but any moist environment can promote fungal growth. If the sweating is a problem, you might want to look into Botox injections for Hyperhidrosis. Answered by Jacelyn Rangitsch 2 years ago.
Sweating not necessarily related. Basically you want to get Sporonox into the nail and that takes 90 days in the toes and 45 days in the hand Do not stop now Answered by Mirtha Erazmus 2 years ago.
