Skelaxin......?????
Skelaxin, What is Skelaxin? Will Skelaxin help with my muscle stiffness and Pain? I sprained my ankle and was told to buy Skelaxin meds. Is Skelaxin the same as Metaxalone? Can I Buy Skelaxin online? I do not have insurance. thanks Asked by Moshe Carfrey 1 year ago.

Last time I checked... skelaxin was by prescription only. It is a little circular or oval pink pill (depending on the Mg) that is for muscle spasms. It is the brand name for Metaxalone, the longer, more complicated names of medications are almost always the generic or chemical name where the shorter names are almost always brands like Tylenol is the brand name for the chemical acetaminophen. I am not sure if Skelaxin comes in generic yet or not? Answered by Margherita Hollenbeck 1 year ago.

Skelaxin is a prescription medication What is Skelaxin (metaxalone)? • Skelaxin (metaxalone) is a muscle relaxant. It works by blocking nerve impulses (or pain sensations) that are sent to your brain. • Skelaxin is used, along with rest and physical therapy, to treat injuries and other painful muscular conditions. • Skelaxin may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide. Answered by Gabriel Mcwalters 1 year ago.

Skelaxin is a prescribed drug that works very well in treating muscle stiffness. You cannot purchase over the counter or on line. You may have the generic compound correct, but the brand name is not yet available in generic form. Other good medications for muscle stiffness prescribed in generic form are: baclofen carisoprodol chlordoxazone cyclobenzaprine methocarbamole. If I have cirrosis should I take skelaxin?
Asked by Merrill Mcquerry 1 year ago.

Whether you should take Skelaxin (metaxalone) depends on the amount of liver damage you already have due to the cirrhosis. According to the PDR (Physician's Desk Reference), Skelaxin should be used with caution in patients with hepatic (liver) and/or renal (kidney) impairment. Skelaxin is also contraindicated (meaning it shouldn't be used at all) in patients with significant hepatic and/or renal impairment. Talk to your regular (medical) doctor, not the pain management doc, and let him/her run some lab work to check your kidney function as well as liver function. How well your kidneys and liver are still working will have a direct impact on whether taking taking Skelaxin would be safe for you. Good luck. Answered by Palma Dosher 1 year ago.

What are the uses for skelaxin(Metaxalone)the sites on it say a muscle relaxent but also say "other" uses
Im curious what the "other" uses are Asked by Maurita Brummel 1 year ago.

Though skelaxin is usually used for muscle injuries (strains, sprains, etc.), there are a few other uses that I am aware of. Skelaxin is sometimes ordered for arthritis to relax muscles, ease pain and reduce stiffness. It can also be used in some instances of chronic pain. This medication comes in several forms and specific forms of skelaxin are ordered for specific situations. So, if you are taking skelaxin, the form you have might not address another condition.
