Question about Ritalin LA 40 mgs?
I have ritalin la 50 mgs. I also suffer from mania and don't normally take any mood meds. How many pills should I take to get a bit hyper? (not high). and should I snort or swallow? I want it to last long. Thanks. Asked by Tammy Yancy 1 month ago.

my 7yr old son was just diagnosed with ADHA the doc prescribed ritalin la im looking for anyone that has delt with this drug or has any advice from being in a similar situation. I have not yet started giving him the medication im trying to do as much research as possible. Anyone with advice please help. Please no comments about im trying to drug my child because thats why im on here and doing as much research as possible im trying to help my son he has alot of problems in school and at home and i want to do what is best for him. Thank you Answered by Chau Kroll 1 month ago.

I would assume that he is having trouble in school b/c of the symptoms. Have the teacher(s) complete a psychometric survey called "vanderbilt" which rates ADHD symptoms (if you haven't done so already). Once you have the survey rating his symptoms.....give it to him for 2 weeks and see what happens. Did you know that kids who take Ritalin for ADHD from a young age have higher self esteem and are less likely to use drugs than a child who wasn't treated for ADHD. If giving your child a stimulant is what you are worried about ask your doctor about Strattera, it is a new ADHD medication that is not a stimulant, some people also report that it helps stabilize their mood. I was against medicating my son at that age to, but I also got tired of the behaviors and symptoms, so I gave it a shot. When he started the medication (concerta) which is Ritalin extended release....his grades shot up dramatically especially in reading...and I stopped getting calls from the school, an he seemed more mature at home. If you don't do something he will end up with low self esteem, because ADHD have trouble with impulse control and that leads to nagging and or humilation or getting introuble just because he has a brain disorder. All of that negativity adds up! Basically you are withholding treatment for him. Maybe getting a second opinion would be a good idea especially if the one prescribing is not a psychiatrist or a nurse practitioner who speacizes in children and ADHD. Needs a father figure in his life. Needs a stable home life and a disciplined routine. Needs encouragement and to be given some responsibilities. Needs a structured environment with limits on tv and video games. Needs to participate in sports. Also extracurriculars such as karate or yoga, depending on what he's interested in. I would also encourage you to slow down. Read with him. Reduce the stress in your own life that he may be feeding off. I think drugs are a last resort. What test determined he had ADD? Easily distracted and such? Maybe he could have some outlets to express himself such as art. Good luck. It's hard raising kids. Answered by Era Carbone 1 month ago.

Experiences with ritalin la?
i jsut got prescribed ritalin la for a.d.d. at about 20 mg and i feel like the onset only last about 2 to 3 hours which is not enough to get me through the day..it also makes me extremely hungry by the time it wears off..does anyone else have any experiences with the drug for advice and insight Asked by Diane Zappia 1 month ago.

i use ritalin sa and in my experince all of the stimulants supress your appitie hungry , i become really hungry when it wears off too, however i was getting little or no effect so i was upped yesterday, try a time release like ritalin sa or concerta. Answered by Elma Mullin 1 month ago.

When I was in practice, it seemed that my patients responded better to repeated doses of the standard methylphenidate than to a single dose of sustained release form. The results improved when I prescribed Ritalin LA and told the pharmacist not to substitute with generic methylphenidate. I think the generic has improved since I retired, but there are now other options that may perform better in many patients. Answered by Betty Coultrap 1 month ago.

I DONT WANNA TAKE THAT TOMORROW.. Answered by Melanie Terwillegar 1 month ago.

Ritalin LA is a form designed to mimick taking Ritalin in two doses a day, 4 hours apart. So there are two peaks, the first after 1-1.5 hrs, the second after about 6 hours, and there's less of a dip in between. It does sound like the drug played a hand in it. When you were crying would be around the first peak (when the immediate Ritalin absorbed), and when you felt sick it would probably be around the second peak (when all the delayed Ritalin was absorbed). Theoretically there ought to be little difference in how you feel on either dosage form, but it can happen. I'd encourage you to give it one or two more days, though. Every time I've taken a new mental medication, it's always been the craziest the first two days and then settled down. And it's also possible it wasn't the drug; maybe just a crazy or moody day. If you take it for another couple days and you get the same result every time, then ask about other options because this one isn't helping you. Answered by Grant Barbe 1 month ago.

Hi, I have been on Ritalin for about six months, without any measurable effect other than a very dry mouth and facial skin. A few days ago, I stepped up from 80 to 100mg on Ritalin LA just to see if "it" were just a few mg's away. Nope! I am a medical user, take only prescribed meds, no alcohol and no drugs other than the lunch' coffee. I am not diagnosed with ADHD or ADD, but is medicated based on the same theory. I have serious concentration problems and have an increasing problem remembering and complete quite daily tasks. It's been a while since I filled the tub before i went in. I am bipolar, not the Hollywood-type, the one that kills. So I am already on stabilizers and anti-psycothics. I have quit all anti depressives. I sort of hoped for a bit of that in the Ritalin. This Ritalin mystery seems to be one of the weird ones. My pdoc asked me to experiment a bit, taking a day or two off, so I took about 5 days off to register contrasting effects, without any result. Question: 100mg is not a small dose. What should I look for at this level? What can I expect? When you are sleepy, you lay down and flow with it. Is there a similar trick with Ritalin? I need to feel my brain, to make it DO stuff, I´m not after a fly-high sensation rush. Answered by Tisa Wellman 1 month ago.

I'm completely confused. Firstly what does "I am bipolar, not the Hollywood-type, the one that kills" mean? There are not really "killer bipolars." Even a schizophrenic who kills is very rare and they typically kill because God or the soul of Jack the Ripper told them too. I hear that and about 3-4 things come into my head as to what you are or what you think you are. Do you have bipolar I or bipolar II? Have you have any comorbid problems (anxiety, insomnia?) What "(mood) stabilizers" are you on? Lamictal, Depakote, Lithium? And what antipsychotics? Zyprexa, Seroquel, Geodon, Abilify? Haldol? 100 mg is Ritalin is a very very large dose. Normally it is 60 mg/day but for Concerta is it 72 mg/day. One thing to know about Ritalin LA is that it is junk. The active ingredient, methylphenidate, is a perfectly fine drug but Ritalin LA, a long acting version of Ritalin, is a terrible formation. Doctors I work with NEVER use it, they either do Concerta, the only long acting version of Ritalin that works well, or they just use Ritalin, or Daytrana, a transdermal patch. Ritalin LA is considered to be a failure by most doctors and Concerta is almost universally considered the best. You probably need to try another stimulant, probably Adderall or Dexedrine. Those two drugs are more potent and more "powerful." They both have a long acting form- Adderall XR and Dexedrine Spansules. Typically people do better on amphetamines than methylphenidate (especially if you do not have ADHD). I don't know what exactly your doctor is doing especially with a dose that high. That dose is not too uncommon in narcolepsy and other sleeping disorders but it is extreme otherwise. And at a dose like that "a little more" almost never works, especially if you had no benefit at a lower dose. If you had done OK at a lower dose it would make more sense. Just based on knowing you are Bipolar and from the classes of medications you are on I more/less get what sort of issues there are and it is not uncommon for stimulants to be used, they do often require a dose higher than ADHD (100 mg is still extreme), but I think at the least you shout try Concerta but really you need a different medication. And it is not a good idea to go past 100 mg/day except sleeping disorders. If the Ritalin was working you should have more focus, clarity, ability to problem solve should change, often treating the type of issues you talk about can sometimes greatly change a person in many ways and it is not subtle. Also most people at a dose like that would have terrible side effects and the fact you are not is unusual. And there is no trick to a drug, there is no flowing with it. And this type of drug at this type of dose is either working or not and if it does work you will know it. Answered by Alishia Edgerson 1 month ago.

If you could avoid medication that would be my suggestion. It seems like today's society wants the quick fix and doctors prescribe medications like candy. Why? Because people need to make money! This is not always the case but often it is. Look at the elderly that have to take tons of medications each day for example. One of my grandmother takes 30+ pills each day. The problem is certain pills have side effects against other parts of your body then you need a pill for that problem and so on so it really gets up there. I never even use Tylenol if i don't need it. Although i feel depressed once in a while i will not go to the doctor so they could put me on some happy medicine because i understand it is not a quick fix and you will become reliant on it the rest of your life! As for Ritalin, my personal belief is that they prescribe that too often. How many different tests have they conducted on your son? Did you get a 2nd and 3rd opinion? If not then that may be a great place to start. If your son is taking that type of medication and is experiencing anger fits then his body may be getting used to the dose and they might prescribe more which makes them more $$$. Look at Mike Tyson. They had that guy on a ton of different medications and one he used to control his anger was Ritalin. 2 weeks before a fight they would take him off the high dosage they were giving him and he would be mad and insane. The best thing you can do for your child is make sure he really needs to take Ritalin in the first place. Visit a few doctors and see if there is something more natural to deal with his situation. Good luck and hope this helped! Answered by Rosana Lowd 1 month ago.

How long after taking Ritalin LA does it show it affects?
My son is going to start this med and I wanted to know how long till I can see improvements in school. He has ADD and I don't need someone telling me not to put him on med's I need a answer! Thank you ! Asked by Lorette Gobbi 1 month ago.

I'm not personally on ritalin, and neither is anyone of close relation. However, I've seen friends who've taken it, and have watched programmes and documentaries on it etc and I think for improvements or, to at least notice a proper difference in his behaviour it may take up to 6 weeks, and if there's improvement it should steadily get better (: Answered by Valentine Bostwick 1 month ago.

Is there a diffrence between Ritalin and Ritalin LA?
can anyone tell me what the difference is? Asked by Kareen Bledsaw 1 month ago.

Ritalin usually last around 4-8 hours how ever after being on it for some time that 4-8 hours can be drastically reduced so they will opt for an extended release version and I believe that is what ritalin LA is, the time released version. Answered by Onie Aceituno 1 month ago.

Concerta and Ritalin are methylphenidate and methylphenidate analogues. Dexedrine and Adderall are analogues of amphetamine salts. Both corporations of medicinal drugs are stimulants and feature a prime expertise for abuse. Answered by Signe Haddick 1 month ago.

Is there any where i can get ritalin or ritalin LA ?
look she needs to talk to my mom and my doctor before putting me on ritalin but she still wants me to try it so i want to try it before they give it to me. Asked by Benito Suppa 1 month ago.

Your doctor can prescribe them. You'll have to be diagnosed with ADHD first, but most pediatricians and GPs are willing to diagnose ADHD in kids and prescribe meds, especially if the school counselor suggested it. If your doctor isn't sure about it or isn't willing to make the diagnosis himself, he can refer you to a psychiatrist who can do a more thorough evaluation. Ritalin is a Schedule II controlled substance. That's the highest class of controlled substances that can be prescribed. It actually has the same legal status as methamphetamine. You can't legally buy it without a prescription, and if you were caught doing so, you could go to jail for it. Ritalin is available is a generic, and it's quite cheap to buy at a pharmacy with a prescription, even if you don't have insurance that covers it. Because of its legal status, doctors don't hand out free samples of Ritalin. The only way to get it legally is to obtain a prescription from your doctor, and have it filled at a pharmacy. There are all sorts of special procedures that your doctor and the pharmacy have to follow, so the DEA can keep track of it. You should talk to your parents about it, and have them take you to a doctor. It's not a very big deal to do, and it shouldn't cost much. Anyway, it would usually cost more to buy it illegally than it would to buy it at a pharmacy, and the legal fees when you were caught buying it illegally would definitely be more expensive than a doctor visit. How many Ritalin LA 40mg capsules must you take to get high?
just answer the ****** question. im curious Asked by Euna Cai 1 month ago.

Unless you have been taking Ritalin for a long time, and have built up a very good tolerance to it, there is a good chance that you will overdose if you take 2 or more of those capsules. The subjective "high" from Ritalin is not what one would expect, and if you take too much, the experience will be very unpleasant. However, at the right amount (for me it was 30mg SR) the euphoria and energy is awesome. I'd advise you to take 1.5 times what you are prescribed, and if you don't notice a significant increase in those effects, try taking 2. BUT; on the off-chance that you are inexperienced with Ritalin (you didn't say) I really would not recommend taking a whole one of those pills, try 1/2. Answered by Shannon Wu 1 month ago.

Is Ritalin LA available in Brazil?
Actually, I need to know if Wellbutrin XL, Celexa, Clonopin, trazadone and Ritalin LA are all available in Brazil and if you need a prescription or if they can be prescribed in the pharmacy. Asked by Sibyl Beedy 1 month ago.

Yes, they are all available in Brazil, but some of them have different names: (US)Ritalin = (BR)Ritalina, Concerta (US)Wellbutrin = (BR)Wellbutrin, Zyban (US)Celexa = (BR)Cittá, Cipramil, Denyl, Cipran (US)Clonopin = (BR) Rivotril, Clonotrax (US)Trazodone= (BR) Donaren These medicines are sold only with the "Blue B Form" medical prescription, which is valid for 30 days and must be retained by the pharmacist after the sale. You will need to see a doctor in order to get these prescritions. I suggest you not to buy prescrition drugs online. Not only are prescription drugs sold over the internet often counterfeit, you’ll be lucky to get anything from these sellers. Answered by Jestine Demallie 1 month ago.

Do you realize the TRUTH in the back of Ritalin or are you simply TROLLIN to the song of a *exclusive drum* right here ? I realize first hand what it will possibly do, in which it will possibly lead, and many others..... and it ain't what you are making it out to be..... unhappy that the arena has individuals such as you speakme TRASH like this.....
