I had been taking antibiotics for about 10 days. I started getting a yeast infection due to the antibiotics around Tuesday of last week. I went to the pharmacy and bought Vagisil, and used it for about 3 days. It wasn't helping at all so I stopped using it. My period was a couple of days late but for the past 8-9 months none of my periods have come on time, they are from 4 days - 2 weeks late, but going thru my stuff I found a pregnancy test and was curious, and sure enough, it was a BIG BRIGHT POSITIVE. I bought monistat yesterday for the infection, before I took the test, but now I don't know if I should use it or not. The infection is really annoying, I need something to get rid of it. Right now I supposed I'm somewhere between 5-6 weeks pregnant. I bought the 7 day treatment. Is it safe to use it this early in pregnancy? Has anybody use it and had no problems at all? Answered by Tommye Jacek 4 months ago.
It's completely safe to use monistat during this time and will NOT cause any issues to your child in anyway. But if you feel uncomfortable using it I would recommend a more natural approach to this issue by doing the following: 1. Avoid all junk foods (white sugar, white flour, soft (soda) drinks) 2. Avoid all sugars (even fruits) 3. Avoid all grains ( Barley, Corn, Millet, Oats, Rice, Wheat) I will require for you to go to your local health food store and buy the following items: 1. Get a bottle of RAW apple cider vinegar and take 2 Tbs in the morning and 2 before you go to sleep.(What you need to get is Bragg's apple cider vinegar not regular store bought vinegar.) 2. For the first 7 days you will only eat RAW leafy green vegetables and other RAW vegetables. If you don't like to eat vegetables than juice them. You can find tons of recipes online. Do this every time you get hungry. 3. Get probiotics. I would suggest Garden of Life Raw Probiotics. Their main function is to provide balance for less-desirable organisms (such as yeast) 4. Eat lots of leafy green vegetables whenever you are hungry. I can tell you this from personal experience that this will work. But it will require effort on your part. I am going through that right now and I called my doctor friday afternoon they said no problem to use monistat. I asked is it better to use 7 day or 3 day I was told either or is ok. I was told to call on monday if it does not start to clear up. To ease your mind make a quick phone call to your doc. Answered by Aurelio Paglione 4 months ago.
That's an EXCELLENT question for your OB. If you get the okay from someone on Yahoo Answers and not from your doctor, who would you listen to? Answered by Mari Kratowicz 4 months ago.

36.5 weeks pregnant and monistat 3?
Hi ladies, I wanted to ask you all if you think it would be ok to use monistat 3 if you have already lost some of your mucus plug? I am dying over here from external hemorrhoids and a itchy ( woman part)! Anything you guys could tell me to help me out would be appreciated. Thanks!
Asked by Lydia Saad 4 months ago.
Monistat is an antifungal, not an antibiotic (antibiotic use often necessitates the need for Monistat). It is safe to use, especially this late in pregnancy. Get the yeast infection cleared up ASAP and use witch hazel pads (Tucks) for the hemorroids. Answered by Asia Dagata 4 months ago.
Best at this point to ask your Dr. or call the pharmacy. Monistat has an antibotic property that I wouldn't use. Use your cream on your roids, and vagisil externally, but I wouldnt use anything in your vagina. Answered by Loris Belman 4 months ago.
I know that you can take it. A side effect of yeast infections is sometimes you'll get some bleeding, and yes the cream does leak out. Answered by Jon Cannada 4 months ago.

Answered by Maryln Mantele 4 months ago.
If it was me I would just finish the treatment on day 5. It's quite likely that it will be enough. However, it is possible that it will come back in a few weeks and if that happens you will need further treatment. I've had plenty of yeast infections and I have cut the treatment short without a problem. I think you will be okay. Good luck Answered by Tyron Lajoy 4 months ago.

Yeast infection. Is monistat safe at 5 weeks pregnant?
I have gotten a yeast infection. Can I use monistat one day? It figures right lol I feel sick to my stomach, am having cramps, tons of indigestion and acid reflux and now a yeast infection. *sigh* lol Oh the joys of being pregnant.

yes! you can use it!! but if you have yeast infection then you must get rid of it as soon as it is possible!!! if you really want to get rid of yeast infection then you must follow these tips - they worked for me: 1) Eat yogurt!!!! It contains helpful bacteria (live cultures, including acidophilus and bifidus) that destroy yeast. Use only plain yogurt with active cultures. 2) Douche with a solution of 1 to 3 tbsp. vinegar in a quart of water. Repeat once a day while having symptoms, but no longer than a week. 3) Decrease or eliminate sugar and sugary foods. Sugar promotes yeast growth. 4) Use a garlic clove as a suppository. Garlic contains a natural anti-fungal agent. 5) Try gentian violet. It's a traditional remedy for yeast and other infections, and can be found in pharmacies. Swab the area with it once or twice a day. Make sure to use a thick pad - it stains everything. 6) Use an herbal douche. Combine equal amounts of sage, raspberry and comfrey with 1/4 part goldenseal. This can be combined with cider vinegar. 7) also you should use some herbal treatment. In that case Yeastrol is really good (probably the best) product that gets rid of yeast infection comparatively fast and makes you feel more confident knowing that it wont reappear again! And of course it is better if you use full course (5 months - if I remember correctly). For me it worked very fast + I dont get yeast infections anymore (almost 2 years) ... I just went through this and as long as you only apply the cream on the outside you will feel better in a couple days, DO NOT put it inside! Call your doctor first. Usually the yeast is caused from over active hormones that tend to produce more discharge that can be irritating. Use it only on the outside and if it is still not better call your doctor. Answered by Tonia Bafford 4 months ago.
Well, it's not "unsafe" per se, but you really should check with your doctor. They usually have safer alternatives, or will give you an ok to use an over the counter product. One thing you should not do? Never, ever douche while pregnant. It can cause an embolism, which is an air bubble" inside your uterus by forcing air in through your cervix. That is dangerous for both the mother and the child. Answered by Felisa Muzzey 4 months ago.
I wouldn't I recently got over a yeast infections and i'm 30 weeks today my doctor gave me something for 7 days. And I only had a mild case. But it's something you should consult with your doctor prior to using it. Good luck it irrated the hell out of me. :( Answered by Mazie Boldrin 4 months ago.
there are MANY over the counter yeast meds that are NOT safe, during PG, my dr told me, that i CAN NOT use the 1 day or the 3 day yeast meds, i was given the option of using the 7day or having him prescribe a pill that you take just 1 time.. you REALLY need to call your DR to see what he recomends for your own issue, Answered by Michal Pierfax 4 months ago.
Yeah I got yeast infections throughout my whole pregnancy and used that. I never asked my doc. though, I just heard it was O.K. from looking on the internet and asking friends. My baby is just fine and extremely healthy so I would say it's O.K. if your unsure you should ask doc. though. Congrats on your baby!! Answered by Claude Griffeth 4 months ago.
Can I take monistat 5 days after taking diflucan?
I took Diflucan for a yeast infection (doctor diagnosis) five days ago and I am still having symptoms. I was wondering if it was safe to take monistat now.
Asked by Rodney Mutton 4 months ago.
Yes you can ( I work in Pharmacy) but on leaflets with Diflucan, it advises to see your Doctor if symptoms persist after treatment ends. Also, if you get a Yeast Infection more than twice in 6months, see your Doctor, there may be an underlying cause. Like Diabetes.x Answered by Reda Mccleery 4 months ago.
How to be rid of a yeast infection after using Monistat nearly a hundred times (over 5 years) with no resolve?
Asked by Maud Adamek 4 months ago.
I definitely would not try the chlorine bleach cure. I would, however, get a referral to an infectious disease specialist and have a thorough physical exam, blood test, and culture of the discharge to find out what exactly is causing you infection and then treating the exact cause. Monistat only is meant to cure Candida albicans yeast--there are a slew of other infectious species of yeast out there. Also, if you are hyperglycemic (have high blood sugar) or an a poor immune system, you can get yeast infection over and over again. Also, if you have a sexual partner, you can be passing the yeast back and forth. He may not have symptoms. You can ALSO have an allergic reaction to yeast infection creams that will mimic a yeast infection when you actually don't have a yeast infection. All these things can be figured out by going to a competent gynecologist esp one with background in infectious disease medicine. Answered by Sharmaine Antkowiak 4 months ago.
Well, the old doctors used to give opinions on home remedies that doctors today would not dream of because of malpractice suits. 30 years ago my sister was having problems with yeast infections. Medication did not help, she even had a D&C to try to get rid of it, to no avail. Our family doctor (he delivered her when she was born) told her that while he would deny it if she told anyone, she could use a douche using one or two DROPS of chlorine bleach in a quart of water. She took his advice and the yeast infection cleared up. You might give it a try. Sometimes the old home remedies work just as well as prescriptions. Answered by Debra Gonzaga 4 months ago.
Used Monistat Ovule 5 days ago.....tried having sex but felt like ovule was still there? Could this be?
Has anyone had this problem. I felt like something was blocking. I thought ovule dissolved within a day or so...but 5 days? Please advise...
Asked by Lilly Steinhoff 4 months ago.
The ovule is supposed to dissolve within a few hours or so after insertion but it's possible that yes it may be taking longer for it to dissolve for you. Another possibility is that the thing you felt could have been your cervix. The cervix is an organ that is shaped like a cylinder (but smaller than the vagina) and is attached to the bottom of the uterus. Sometimes it can be felt vaginally such as when medicine is being given. The way I knew it was my cervix (and no I'm not recommending you do this) is that when I went to insert some medication one time for an infection I felt this thing with my hand that was really strange. I then pulled on it just to see what it was. My uterus then started to hurt a bit. That's how I knew then that it was my cervix. I would recommend checking with your doctor as well to see what they say. Answered by Denis Pedde 4 months ago.
Im on my 5th day of MONISTAT 7?!?! Still mild burning after i wipe! HELP!?
Should i still be feeling a little burn sensation after i wipe? is that normal?
Asked by Dannette Schnurr 4 months ago.
It could be that you have a bacterial infection instead of yeast therefore the medication is not helping. But also some women actually get irritated from Monistat so they feel like the infection is still there when it is not. I would give it a few days after the meds. are complete and if you still have symptoms go see a doctor. Answered by Kala Devito 4 months ago.
Yeast infections usually cause itching; you may have a UTI or another bacterial infection. See your doctor; Monostat is fast acting when it's the correct medicine. God bless. Answered by Stacy Zurawik 4 months ago.
