What's the difference between Microgestin Fe 1/20 and Microgestin 1/20?
I was prescribed Microgestin 1/20 over a year ago and have been taking the same BCP since. I just recently renewed my prescription and when I picked up my BCP, it was a Microgestin Fe 1/20. What are the differences between the two? and what does the Fe really mean? Asked by Tobias Elleman 4 months ago.

As you've probably already seen, there are visible differences in your pill pack. Microgestin 1/20 is a 21-day pill with 21 active white pills, whereas Microgestin Fe 1/20 is a 28-day pill with 21 active white pills and 7 brown pills. The hormone levels in both pill packs are the same; they both contain 1 mg of norethindrone acetate and 20 mcg (or 0.02 mg) ethinyl estradiol in the white pills, the only real difference is that last week of brown pills. Those brown pills are iron pills, which is where the Fe comes in (Fe is the symbol for iron). You will take your pill pack as you were before, from left to right, top to bottom. But instead of taking a 7-day break from pills once you've completed all of your active white pills like you did with the Microgestin 1/20, after you've taken all of your white pills you will start on the brown pills the next day with your new Microgestin Fe 1/20 pack. After you've finished your last brown pill, you will then begin a new pill pack the next day. If you miss any of your brown pills, it really isn't a big deal. Those pills don't contain any hormones, just iron, which some women need for the iron that may be lost during menstrual bleeding. The white pills in either pack are active pills, which you don't want to miss taking. Try to remember taking them every day, around the same time each day. I hope that helps, and if you have any more questions, please feel free to contact me. Answered by Diedre Maron 4 months ago.

I just started taking Microgestin today, for birth control and I'm worried. I've had severe depression all my life and I've been taking Wellbutrin XL for a few years now. I'm just wondering if these two medications together, could possibly affect me? I've read articles on girls with depression, having serious side effects while taking oral contraceptives. I've mentioned to my doctor that I do have depression and I am taking Wellbutrin, but she didn't mention anything bad. I'm still concerned though because she didn't tell me much about the pill. Any information and advice would be greatly appreciated! Answered by Lawrence Geckles 4 months ago.

If you are concerned about birth control interacting with your other meds, Microgestin Fe 1/20 is the best ones to take because it is one of the lowest doses of estrogen you can get. You should know there have been problems with this bc and not getting your period because the estrogen levels are so low, so if you dont get your period during the inactive week dont be suprised and talk to your doctor about switching to one that is a slightly higher dose. Answered by Ray Gregoire 4 months ago.

I JUST posted this same thing. Microgestin is generic for Loestra. I only take 4 of the inactive pills and am not sure what you're situation is there. I've been on it for about 7 months and noticed it getting lighter and shorter. Last month was only spotting and this month it has disappeared altogether. From what I read it is not uncommon on this type of pill. I am religious about taking the pill, but will probably take a test just to ease my mind. Good luck! Answered by Noelle Enny 4 months ago.

Hey there! Yes! I'm on Microgestin 1/20 too. My first month on it I had a few days of light, light spotting and then nothing. My second month I got a normal period, now I'm on my third pack and I've been spotting even though my last pill isn't for another 5 days. I've taken countless pregnancy tests and they've all been negative. I've heard this was pretty common for this pill, and I'm actually thinking of coming off of it since I'm so paranoid. Good luck to you, wait another month if you miss that one then I would definitely see your doctor. Heck, see your doctor anyway if you feel uneasy. Answered by Delpha Louk 4 months ago.

Side effects with Microgestin Fe 1/20?
I just started Microgestin Fe 1/20 three days ago (I just switched from Yaz) but have noticed odd changes. My breast are extremely tender as well as my whole upper body. My stomach and sides ache and feel inflamed, I'm also really tired all of the sudden. Has anyone else had these side effects with this birth control? Asked by Sabine Seiberling 4 months ago.

I had similar effects from Loestrin Fe for the two months I was on it. Give it some time, most of the time the symptoms subside in a few months, for me it did not, but everyone is different. Good luck. Answered by Camille Reagon 4 months ago.

I started Microgestin fe 1/20 a week before my period, is that bad?
Also I won't be sexually active for a month. Asked by Tonia Gaarsland 4 months ago.

May 11th(sunday) is when I started taking Microgestin Fe 1/20, my doctor told me on saturday to take it tomorrow(may 11th, sunday). So I just listened to her advice and took it, but I've seen people saying how bad that is because your supposed to take it the sunday after your period. My period before taking these bc pills would have started next week... Also, is anybody on Microgestin Fe 1/20 and has gotten pregnant from the low dose? Good/bad things you've experienced? Answered by Quintin Stotelmyer 4 months ago.

No, that's not bad. One of the things they don't tell you about birth control is that really, you can start it at any time during your cycle. However, it's usually a good idea to wait until you get your period, to make sure you aren't pregnant already. If you miss your next period (or rather, the period you are now "scheduled" for on the pills), it might not be a bad idea to take a pregnancy test. If you do have sex during this first month, use a backup method like a condom, just to make sure. As for Microgestin, it's actually the pill I use, although at the higher dose. I don't take the iron pills, because I naturally have a high level of iron in my body and if I take them, I get sick, but other than that, I really like Microgestin. So long as you take your pills at the same time every day, they are very effective and you are very unlikely to become pregnant. Also, Microgestin is not a POP or "mini-pill", so it's not quite as sensitive to the timing. But again, it's always best to take your pills at the same time, every day. Any Experience With Microgestin Fe 1/20 Birth Control Pill?
I'm about to start this pill because I haven't had a period in a year (LMP Nov. 2008) and that was induced by ortho-tri cyclen lo BCP. I also have PCOS and I'm hoping this helps my hormones. Have you taken it? Asked by Adaline Berner 4 months ago.

I take the same birth control, been taking it for two months now. My boobs were killing me at first!!! Felt so heavy & got a cup size bigger.. now there just a lil tender lol I had very bad bood swings, were even causing me problems with my husband but now the mood swings are becoming less of a thing. Also cravings omg I crave so much chocolate!!! Like everyday now. The effects should last about 3 months since your body is getting used to the pill an all... oh yeah you'll also have break through bleeding/spotting. I have no problems with the pill as I did at first. Take it for at least 3 months & if any effects really bother you than see your Doctor so you can try something different Answered by Donetta Tenebruso 4 months ago.

Birth control: microgestin 1/20 vs. Junel Fe 1/20?
I was on microgestin 1/20 and when I picked up the next prescription, it was Junel Fe 1/20. The pharmacist told me it was the same medicine. Is this true? Is there anything at all different? If not, why did it switch? Asked by Tawna Tiedeman 4 months ago.

They are both generic medications of Loestrin Fe 1/20 manufactured by different companies. Microgestin is manufactured by Watson Pharmaceuticals, whereas Junel is manufactured by Teva/Barr Pharmaceuticals. They have different names, only because that's what the manufacturer wanted to name it. They have the same ingredients in the same strengths. Pharmacies stock whichever manufacture is available or negotiates a better price with them. Answered by Sana Quiros 4 months ago.

How effective is this birth control?
how effective is microgestin fe 1/20 Asked by Leroy Bohan 4 months ago.

Its extremely effective. Answered by Arla Gimpel 4 months ago.

Look, I understand I'm a couple of years overdue to the celebration however I could identical to so as to add that it IS actually viable to have a virgin start. Say any person infected Mary's undies with sperm; the sperm would continue to exist and get within the vagina in view that the pubic vicinity is ideal for sperm survival. That's relatively not likely despite the fact that. So she was once in most cases both approximately to have intercourse and bought precum someplace round her crotch or she's a liar and stated she was once a virgin in view that she did not wish to get stoned to dying. Answered by Bailey Cayer 4 months ago.

If the pill is taken right, daily and within a one hour window(one hour late max) the pill is 99% effective. Answered by Martine Troupe 4 months ago.
