How much Loperamide Hydrochloride should I feed my 120 lb dog for diarrhea?
Looking for the actual amount of pills I need, I have the 2mg tablets. Asked by Suzette Zagen 4 months ago.

If your dog has ANY herding dog blood in his pedigree do not give him any as it will KILL HIM. ----------- Immodium or other substrates for P-glycoprotein This drug is commonly used to treat Diarrhoea in humans it should not be used to treat dogs especially Collies, it works by temporarily paralyzing the lower intestines in humans. In dogs however especially Collies it could well lead to coma followed by death. If you have given Immodium to your Collie print this out and take it with you to your Vet to help him care for your dog. The phenomenon of ivermectin toxicity in Collies was first described in 1983. Ivermectin causes neurologic toxicity in some, but not all Collies, at doses that are 1/200th of the dose required to cause toxicity in other dogs. Neurologic manifestations of ivermectin in susceptible dogs include, hypersalivation, ataxia, blindness, coma, respiratory compromise, and death. Despite numerous investigations during the 1980?s and 1990?s, the cause of this peculiar breed susceptibility was not elucidated. Recently, a veterinarian at WSU discovered that the cause of ivermectin sensitivity in Collies is a deletion mutation in the MDR1 gene. The MDR1 gene encodes a large transmembrane protein, P-glycoprotein, that is an integral part of the blood-brain barrier. P-glycoprotein functions in a protective capacity to transport a variety of drug substrates, including ivermectin, from brain tissue back into capillaries. Other drugs that are substrates for P-glycoprotein include loperamide (Immodium?), digoxin, ondansetron, many chemotherapeutic drugs including vincristine, vinblastine, and doxorubicin, and other drugs. Collies have been documented to be susceptible to neurotoxicity induced by some of these drugs also. A test is now available to determine if Collies are homozygous for the deletion mutation (i.e., display the ivermectin-sensitive phenotype), heterozygous for the deletion mutation (carriers) or homozygous for the normal gene sequence. Ongoing research is directed at determining if other breeds that have been reported to be sensitive to ivermectin (Australian Shepherds, Shelties, Border Collies, and Old English Sheepdogs) have a similar mutation. This Site Might Help You. RE: How much Loperamide Hydrochloride should I feed my 120 lb dog for diarrhea? Looking for the actual amount of pills I need, I have the 2mg tablets. Answered by Devon Tankesly 4 months ago.

For my 100 lb. pit bull i give him boiled white rice with a little bit of 1% low fat cottage cheese. It stops the diarrhea and it isn't harmful to the dog. My vet told me to do this when my dog was very sick and it works great. You can also use it if they throw up. Also some grape Gatorade to keep them from dehydrating. He believes in helping people help their pets without breaking their wallets. I use the cottage cheese cause my dog won't eat the plain white rice. I use the stove top kind and run it under cool water after its done just a little to cool it off.A cup of cooked rice would be good and no other food for 12 to 24 hours after that. Answered by Alix Prezzia 4 months ago.

Don't EVER give your dog any kind of medication (especially meds intended for people) without first checking with a vet. Some drugs designed for people can actually be poison to dogs. You could kill your dog or make her sicker. I don't know if loperamide is toxic to dogs, as I am not a vet. But you'd really hate yourself if it was and you didn't call your vet before administering it. Answered by Fredia Coles 4 months ago.

Just feed a bland diet of boiled rice and chicken or ground beef twice a day for 2 days... Much safer than human meds, esp when they're not prescribed or recommended by your vet. Answered by Janel Koller 4 months ago.

Its generic imodium, right? OK, give 1 tablet now:if more diarrhoea an hour later, give 1 more. Answered by Valentine Car 4 months ago.

If that is the same as Imodium A-D, I would give him one tablet for mushy stools and two if he had liquid diarrhea. Answered by Jammie Lenherr 4 months ago.

IDK...i dont know...just check with the vet. Or search on google, whatever you're asking. Answered by Exie Copen 4 months ago.

Can I take Loperamide Hydrochloride 2 mg while pregnant?
I have tummy ache and Diaohrrhea and I am 17 weeks pregnant can I take Loperamide Hydrochloride tablets??? Asked by Treasa Rangel 4 months ago.

Only if it's on the list of permitted medications from your doctor. Answered by Joanie Bucklew 4 months ago.

Loperamide Hydrochloride (imodium a d) is a pregnancy category B drug. Not expected to cause birth defects... but no studies have been done. Tylenol is also a category B drug by the way. Check with your doctor to be sure, the doc may find the diarrhea to be more dangerous than the drug if you are getting dehydrated. If they say no to the imodium, try dry toast bananas applesauce and rice until it binds you. You may want to drink sports drinks or pedialyte to keep you hydrated too. Feel better soon. Loperamide Pregnancy Answered by Lorri Gaudino 4 months ago.

The best thing for nausea is to talk to your doctor and see if they'll write you a prescription for something. All you can do is call your dr and ask them this question, because different doctors are ok with different medicines, and your doctor is the only one that knows your case specifically and will be able to ok it or say don't take it. Answered by Sana Davolt 4 months ago.

this is a question for the doc. Generally speaking, you can't take anything while pregnant except tylenol and tums. There are other things that *most* people can take, but it would really be worth it to just give the doctor a buzz and double check. Answered by Sol Shamonsky 4 months ago.

Loperamide hydrochloride and tums?
The first is an anti diarhea med. Is it safe to take these two together? Thanks in advance and I need this info ASAP. Asked by Laure Gallaspy 4 months ago.

Yes, it is safe. The first is an opioid that stays in the digestive tract and slows down the movement of material through the tract. The second is calcium salts that neutralize acid. Answered by Stevie Littlehale 4 months ago.

Can you get high off of loperamide hydrochloride?
Asked by Bernice Harvard 4 months ago.

no..it will probably make you dehydrated but it wont give a high.why would you want to get high off medicines? cant you just go get a gram of weed and smoke it? Answered by Henry Visco 4 months ago.

LOL. I assume you know what it does? It's for diarrhea - it does not get you high, at any dose, but if you don't have diarrhea and you take it, you'll get extremely constipated and not be able to go to the bathroom for about a week.... if you take it in high doses you'll end up with fecal impaction and have to have surgery to remove the stool that's impacted in your intestine... true stuff, I've seen it happen (not pretty!!!!!). {10 POINTS!!} What To Eat With Norimode? (A.K.A Loperamide Hydrochloride) 10 POINTS!!!?
i have had diarrea for a week now and went to my doctors and he gave me norimode tablets, on the leaflet that came with them it says what not to eat but not what to eat, any help because i'm kinda hungry Asked by Giovanni Schirm 4 months ago.

You can literally eat anything it doesn't forbid. For example, if it says to stay away from dairy, then you should avoid any milk or cheese-based products, but if it doesn't forbid grains, you can eat any grain-based products as long as they don't have some major aspect of a forbidden ingredient (like you wouldn't want to eat pizza with those conditions because there's dairy). I don't have the list you're referring to so I can't give a solid list, but whatever categories aren't in the list are perfectly fine. Good luck and I hope I helped! I think my puppy ate otc anti diarrhea medicine from the trash can. What should I do?
I found out that it is loperamide Hydrochloride (Immodium) please someone answer this I am starting to really worry? Asked by Adrianna Frasier 4 months ago.

How much did the dog eat? Immodium can be used in dogs, but if the dog got more than a couple of pills, I would call your vet about this as soon as you can (in the morning would be fine). Answered by Patience Kremen 4 months ago.

Depends on how much.. I'd call the nearest ER vet clinic & ask them. Chances are that it's too late now anyways. If you think your dog has ingested something harmful you have to act QUICKLY- before it's dissolved inside the stomach. For future use, keep the number posted on your fridge or somewhere easy to locate. Answered by Reena Arguelles 4 months ago.

relies upon on how lots.. i'd call the closest ER vet medical institution & ask them. threat is that it relatively is too previous due now anyhow. in case you think of your canine has ingested some thing risky you're able to act without delay- till now it relatively is dissolved interior the tummy. For destiny use, shop the selection published on your refrigerator or someplace trouble-free to locate. Answered by Catarina Hohnson 4 months ago.
