I was on Orthotricyclen for 6 months or so and gained 5 lbs or so, as well as fat in places I had never had it before (above bra line behind armpit). I was having trouble with an eating disorder and keeping it at bay, and this set it completely off. I could not lose weight on Ortho even though I was heavily restricting. I stopped taking it and dropped 10 lbs very quickly. I want to go back on birth control, but I am terrified of weight gain. I went to my campus doctor and explained my concern and prescribed me the generic of Loestrin- Gildess FE 1/20. The appointment was over very quickly and she did not really go into any detail other than it was low in hormones. I picked up my prescription and did research at home and... hear nothing but awful reviews. Weight gain, hair loss, crazy spotting. The list goes on. Before I start taking this ****, can anyone tell me anything about it? Weight gain from birth control IS real, and I don't care what anyone tells me otherwise. Hair loss... is scary. Thank you. I've been on Loestrin and Lo Loestrin both and had great results from them. Of course, hormone pills can react differently with different women, so I can't promise that you'll have the same results, but from what I've heard from other girls on that pill, it's a nice option. Low hormone pills have less of a chance of causing bad side effects like weight gain, blood clots, etc. The bad thing about searching a pill online is that usually only the people who have had terrible experiences on it will say anything about it. My experience with Loestrin - I am as close to normal as ever. It's almost like not being on the pill. Easy for me to lose weight when I work out, no acne, no hair loss any more than I usually lose, no spotting. In fact, I rarely ever get a period at all. It's nice. I'd give it a try. Good luck! I took LoEstrin 1.5/30 for a great number of years and only recently switched to YAZ to help control my perimenopausal symptoms---especially my mood swings. Give the LoEstrin a try...its a mono-phasic pill, so you don't have hormone fluctuations all month long. If you find you're not doing well on it, there are tons of other formulations out there that you can try. YAZ and Yasmin are both formulated to help with extreme moodiness, so if LoEstrin doesn't work for you, maybe that might be the next one(s) to try. Good luck. Answered by Sheron Rosiek 1 year ago.
I was on ortho tri cyclen lo for about 3 years and got tired of it. It was making me have problems with sex, got constant yeast infections and made me feel so irritable all the time. I just currently switched to loestrin24. And I havn't felt moody or anything. Ive been spotting a few times. But i havent been on it long enough to say much. Answered by Raisa Velazco 1 year ago.
I've had a very good experience with loestrin. I used to get so many pregnancy symptoms from all the other birth control pills, even though I wasn't pregnant. This is the on;y one that has worked for me. Answered by Catalina Warmka 1 year ago.
Difference between Loestrin 1/20, loestrin fe, and loestrin 24?
I've been researching loestrin and have seen many different uses of the name. Are they all the same thing just named differently, or does the 1/20, fe, and 24 all stand for something like doses?

I'm on Loestrin 24FE. The FE stands for iron. The "inactive" pills are green and instead of just containing sugar, they have an iron supplement. The 24 means there are 24 active days of pills. Most other birth control only have 21. Those three extra days stair-step down your hormone level. It helped me stop having hormonal migraines. I'm not sure what 1/20 is but its probably a slightly different formulation. Answered by Lady Starkman 1 year ago.

I just finished my 3 month sample of Loestrin 24 Fe 1/20 and I went to the pharmacy to refill my prescription and when I got home I opened my BC and it said Loestrin Fe 1/20. I noticed that the pills were a light yellow instead of white which is what the other was and it also has 7 brown Fe pills instead of just 4 like I had been taking. I need to know if there is a difference between these two packs and if I need to go the pharmacy to have them check it out. I am getting married in 10 days and I need to know asap if there are any risks of getting pregnant with taking the Loestrin Fe 1/20. I have a ba feeling that my pharmacist gave me the wrong BC. Also, is this a generic or brand name BC? Because I didn't request for any of my RX to be changed. Thank you! :) Answered by Leta Gegenheimer 1 year ago.
They are two different birth control products. The major difference is that Loestrin 24 has 24 active pills vs 21 active pills in Loestrin 1/20. Also, the latter is generically available. Loestrin 24 will be going generic soon. Answered by Gale Abaya 1 year ago.

There is a slight difference between the two, but you are still going to be protected against pregnancy. I believe the only difference is that Loestrin 24 and Loestrin 1/20 is their period lengths. So on Loestrin 24 fe you will have a 4 day period, and a 7 day period Loestrin fe 1/20. They both have the same hormones though, so you are fine. Answered by Harvey Munchmeyer 1 year ago.

What is the difference between Loestrin 1/20 Fe and Loestrien 1/20-21?
I would like to know because I asked the nurse to call in Loestrin 1/20 but I didn't tell her Fe and she called in Loestrin 1/20-21 not Loestrin 1/20 Fe. I am switching from Loestrin 24 Fe so I figured that she would call in the 1/20 Fe but she didn't. So help please?

Fe- stands for iron,,,it has iron added or it dont loestrin 1/20 - 21 the first set of numbers is the amount of hormone in each pill, the second number is the number of pills (21 pack) if you are worried ask the pharmacist when you pick them up or call the dr back. Answered by Lashon Kampmann 1 year ago.
there's a tender difference between the two, yet you're nevertheless going to be secure against being pregnant. i've got confidence the only difference is that Loestrin 24 and Loestrin a million/20 is their era lengths. So on Loestrin 24 fe you've gotten a 4 day era, and a 7 day era Loestrin fe a million/20. They the two have the comparable hormones nonetheless, so which you're superb. Birth control question Junel 1/20 Fe?

I was on Loestrin 24 Fe for four months, and I really liked it, but my insurance stopped paying for it and I was switched to LoLoestrin 1/10 Fe, I only took that for a month before my insurance decided they wont pay for that either. On both of those pills, they had 24 active pills and 4 reminder pills. I would always get a light period that lasted the entire 4 days I was on the reminder pills. Now I got switched to Junel 1/20 Fe. It has the same formula as Loestrin 24 Fe, except it has 21 days of active pills and an entire week of inactive pills. Does this mean I will get my period for 7 days now? Anyone who knows or has any other info theyd like to share about this pill, I'd really appreciate it. Google wasn't helping much. Thanks :) Answered by Agustin Kulp 1 year ago.
I'm on another generic of Loestrin, Microgestin 1/20. I also have 21 active days and 1 week of inactive iron pills. When I first started I would have my period for maybe 2-3 days out of the whole week. Now I usually don't get a period at all, other than some very light spotting. Hope this helped. Birth control: microgestin 1/20 vs. Junel Fe 1/20?
I was on microgestin 1/20 and when I picked up the next prescription, it was Junel Fe 1/20. The pharmacist told me it was the same medicine. Is this true? Is there anything at all different? If not, why did it switch?
Asked by Fay Standfield 1 year ago.
They are both generic medications of Loestrin Fe 1/20 manufactured by different companies. Microgestin is manufactured by Watson Pharmaceuticals, whereas Junel is manufactured by Teva/Barr Pharmaceuticals. They have different names, only because that's what the manufacturer wanted to name it. They have the same ingredients in the same strengths. Pharmacies stock whichever manufacture is available or negotiates a better price with them. Answered by Nakisha Kozloff 1 year ago.
I recently switched birth control pills from Loestrin 24 Fe to Microgestrin Fe 1/20 is spotting normal?
I was on Loestrin 24 Fe for 16 months, prior to Microgestin Fe 1/20 I didn't wait anytime between packs starting my new pack, do I still need to wait 7 days, even if its the generic and contains the same hormones?
Asked by Ana Hults 1 year ago.
the generic I was prescribed was generic for Loestrin Fe 1/20, since Loestrin 24 Fe doesn't have one. I was wondering If I needed to use a backup method of birth control for the first week of the generic Microgestin Fe 1/20? My pharmacist said I wouldn't need to since I wasn't switchin to a new brand but, rather the generic form of Loestrin. I wanted to be sure, bc I am in the middle of week 3 in my pill pack and had some light spotting after intercourse. I had unprotected sex on day 6 of my new pack and was worried I may be pregnant. any answers would help thanks! Answered by Sherryl Pralle 1 year ago.
u need to be on the pill 7 days prior to having sex. 7 full days, taking it within the same 4 hour range every day. spotting is normal for the first few cycles when switching pills. but if u stain for more than 5 cycles this particular pill might not be strong enough for you. I personally have had no luck with Loestrin 24 Fe. Nortrel, Nuva Ring, and the low estrogen Ogestrel. I finally switched to the regular dose Ogestrel and never experience staining. Hi! I am currently on lo loestrin 24 fe and it is awesome! I have a much lighter flow and a shorter period with this birth control. The main reason why I am taking the birth control is for my unbearable cramps. Without birth control, I would be unable to do anything. I am currently using samples that my gyno gave me, but I will run out soon, and even with insurance this particular birth control is very pricey. I was wondering if there was any generic birth controls that are like lo loestrin 24 fe, or if you had any experience with severe cramps, but your birth control helped you significantly. What used to work for me was a shot of vodka in a glass of orange juice. Oil of evening primrose ( You get the capsules at most places that sell vitamins) won't help cramping but it can help regulate the flow if you take it every day. Answered by Tempie Willmott 1 year ago.
