Hi! I am currently on lo loestrin 24 fe and it is awesome! I have a much lighter flow and a shorter period with this birth control. The main reason why I am taking the birth control is for my unbearable cramps. Without birth control, I would be unable to do anything. I am currently using samples that my gyno gave me, but I will run out soon, and even with insurance this particular birth control is very pricey. I was wondering if there was any generic birth controls that are like lo loestrin 24 fe, or if you had any experience with severe cramps, but your birth control helped you significantly. What used to work for me was a shot of vodka in a glass of orange juice. Oil of evening primrose ( You get the capsules at most places that sell vitamins) won't help cramping but it can help regulate the flow if you take it every day. Answered by Kena Pulk 6 months ago.

I've been on Loestrin 24 Fe for 6 months now- never on Nuvaring, I was on Ortho Tri Cyclen lo for 5 years before this (stopped b/c it didn't regulate my period at ALL!) First, look up aprhodite forum talk about loestrin- you'll geta lot of info. The only period I've had was 3 days of bleeding the first week I started Loestrin- since then NOTHING. No bleeding, spotting, anything. This is common w/ Loestrin from what I've read, and freaks a LOT of women out to the point of quiting the med. I take the pill the exact same time every day and am with the same partner, never miss a pill, so I don't worry about pregnancy. To ease my mind after 3 months I did take a pregnancy test. My OBGYN said if it doesn't bother me (not having a period) then it's fine to continue the med. I also read that you shouldn't take Loestrin for more than 3-5 consecutive years as it may mak eit really hard to become pregnant afterwards. I don't want kids and I HATE having a period, so I plan on continuing. The only other side effect I notice is weight gain around the stomach area, which is common w/ birth control, I just didn't have that happen w/ Ortho Tri Cyclen. Diet and exercise have kept my mid section trim, but I noticed when I took a week off from the gym I gained a bit there pretty quickly. The only other drugs I've taken while on Loestrin are OTC pain killers like tylenol, Hydroxycut hardcore for energy, and my multivitamins. The price for me is $55, but only b/c I have crappy insurance where I pay 100% until I pay $3,000. Overall, I LOVE Loestrin 24 Fe! The only downfall (and I read a lot about this online) is the missed periods... but I don't 'miss' having one at ALL! Good luck! Answered by Luis Buckbee 6 months ago.
Loestrin has a higher dose of estrogen but Nuvaring is not for you if you have Yeast Infections often b/c the number one side effect of Nuvaring are.... yeast infections. I've been on Loestrin for 1 year now and i LOVE it! i was thinking about switching over to Nuvaring but since i get yeast infections often it really isnt for me and another thing about Nuvaring is that it has the risk that it might come out when having a Bowel Movement. i dont know about you but i would hate to have it expelled. and with Nuvaring you have from 5 to 7 days of a period while on Loestrin Fe you only have 2 to 3 days of a period which are VERY light! hope this helps! Answered by Lesia Niedens 6 months ago.
I'm going to say Nuvaring because it contains hormones that slowly release into your body over a period of time. And there is a greater risk of blood clots with Nuvaring too. And I took Loestrin along time ago and it works as well as any other birth control pill I've been on. xxx Answered by Herman Cockburn 6 months ago.
Im not sure about the hormone parts, but Nuva ring freaks me out to think about. One of my friends had it come out while she was having sex. On the other hand, loestrin FE was one of the worst things I ever experienced! The periods were great I wont lie, but the side effects were not worth it. I became depressed. It made me cry at the drop of a hat. I mean ANYTHING would make me cry. I got headaches from it bad. Always felt bloated. It was worse then the otho tri cyclen they had me on before and I thought that stuff was bad. Personally, the depo shot is the best thing thats ever happened to me and I been on a lot of different BC meds. Answered by Madison Hervig 6 months ago.
I AM NOT SURE THE HORMONE LEVELS IN THE PILLS BUT I CAN TELL YOU THE NUVA RING IS NICE BECAUSE YOU LEAVE IT IN AND DONT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT TAKING A PILL EVERYDAY. Answered by Neta Shene 6 months ago.

Ok so ive been on this pill for exactly a week.. im 17 and i got on it to regulate my period and hormones because i have horrible mood swings. Well just in the past week ive noticed ive been even more moody, i want to cry all the time and i just feel trapped. I feel like this is doing the reverse of what its supposed too. I'm 10X more tired than i was before, and i just want to be alone all the time. My boobs are already starting to get a little bigger which in turn is making them tender and hurt... some people tell me its because i just started taking it- which im not that oblivious too, and i know that all BC will do this because anything that screws with your hormones will make you feel differently, but all these reviews i keep reading on the internet are making me less and less inclined to keep taking it... so i guess my question is, any girls/women taking this same pill and have any POSITIVE insights on it? Answered by Georgianne Victoria 6 months ago.
I have been on Loestrin 24 Fe for a week and a half .. and my boobs have grown a cup size! Will they stop?
I am so happy they are getting bigger but I'm wondering if this is as big as they're gonna get! Anyone have any personal experience or input? Thanks.

They should stop soon An Introduction to Loestrin 24 Fe Side Effects As with any medicine, side effects are possible with Loestrin® 24 Fe (norethindrone/ethinyl estradiol); however, not everyone who uses the contraceptive will experience side effects. In fact, most women tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or can easily be treated by you or your healthcare provider. Because Loestrin 24 Fe contains a low dose of hormones, compared to older birth control pills, in theory, side effects may be less common with Loestrin 24 Fe. (This article covers many, but not all, of the possible side effects with Loestrin 24 Fe. Your healthcare provider can discuss a more complete list of Loestrin 24 Fe side effects with you.) Common Side Effects of Loestrin 24 Fe In clinical studies for most medications, one group of people is given the actual medication, while another group is given a placebo (a "sugar pill" with no active ingredients). The side effects in both groups are carefully documented and compared. This way, it is possible to see what side effects occur, how often they appear, and how they compare to the group not taking the medicine. However, it is not possible to use a placebo in clinical trials for contraceptives, as this would lead to many unintentional pregnancies. It is difficult to obtain much information about side effects from studies that do not use a placebo (since there is no way of knowing if any particular problem is actually a side effect of the medication). Therefore, although the following side effects were commonly reported in clinical studies of Loestrin 24 Fe, it is difficult to know if they are "true" side effects or not. These common Loestrin 24 side effects (occurring in 2 to 6 percent of women) included: * Headaches * Vaginal yeast infections * Upper respiratory tract infections (such as the common cold) or sinus infections * Nausea * Menstrual cramps * Breast tenderness * Abnormal pap smear results * Acne * Bladder infection (urinary tract infection or UTI) * Mood swings * Weight gain (see Loestrin 24 Fe and Weight Gain) * Bleeding or spotting between periods (known as breakthrough bleeding). it's water build up not actual tissue but will probably stay that size. but water can come out for different reasons so bear that in mind. like if you stopped the pills or took water pills and so on. so it is not tissue but water. Answered by Elfreda Scarano 6 months ago.

On the first pack of pills, I got my period a couple days before I started my inactive pills (july 16th) and now I just got it again, but it was TERRIBLE in the beginning. It was all clots (Sorry for the imaging. ) I have 14 days before I SHOULD have started my period. What's wrong with me??? Answered by Alica Grimaldi 6 months ago.

"Loestrin® 24 Fe is a low-dose birth control pill that contains 24-days of active hormonal therapy. The active tablets in Loestrin® 24 Fe contain the estrogen, ethinyl estradiol and the progestin, norethindrone acetate. When taken properly, Loestrin® 24 Fe is over 99% effective in preventing pregnancy." So as long as your taking the pill you have a 99% chance of not getting pregnant, even if you boyfriend cums inside of you. However, If you forget a pill or two then you are less protected. Make sure you remember all the pills or use a back up birth control in case you forget. The birth control also will not protect against STDs or STIs. So using a condom may be good depending on the situation. Make sure you and your partner are both clean. Answered by Wilfred Mourer 6 months ago.

Loestrin 24 fe?

Asked by Darell Wemhoff 6 months ago.
ideally when you start taking an oral contraceptive, you should start taking it on day 7 of your cycle (day one being the first day of your period) This is typical of a 21 day pack... but loestrin 24 is 24 days, so you will have shorter, lighter periods theoretically... so the suggested start dates might vary from that of a 21 day pack. This way, it has the least amount of effect on your cycle, and you should be able to expect your next period around the same time that you normally would have had you not taken the pill. Your prescription should come with an instruction pamphlet that can tell you your options for when to start taking the pill. Also in that pamphlet is valuable information about what to do if you've missed a pill, etc... so you won't have to wait around for Yahoo answers :) When in doubt, your doctor should be able to answer this question for you, also any pharmacist should be able to help. Okay just started 3 weeks ago w/ the exact pill. So far the only bad effect I've had is really sore breasts, they used to be sore right before my period but now it's like it's just lasting all month. I've had some abdominal cramping. Also I did the day 1 start and my period lasted 12 days!!! And since then I've had brown discharge, I don't know when it'll end.... I was prescribed it for really severe cramps I was taking 12 motrin a day for & missing activities curled up on the couch, so if the only thing it does is take away the cramps, it's all very worth it for me. Also my back would hurt sooo much before my period, and this week it hasn't, so that's good too. Answered by Matt Delapp 6 months ago.
literally you can take it whenever you want. I am on loestrin 24 fe and my gyno said it's best to start on the first day of your period or the sunday after your period ends. Answered by Rozanne Frankhouser 6 months ago.

Hi, I took Loestrin 24 Fe Lo for about 3 months or my acne. I had severe acne and big cystic pimples that really hurt. It didn't really seem to help my acne or made it less in appearance. (even though I heard your body should adjust to bcp on an average of 3 months). Loestrin 24 FE lo and Loestrin 24 FE is different, so check with your doctor. The only good thing about it was that I had really light periods. It would probably last only from 3-4 days and I didn't experience any bloating, cramps, or headaches or anything. I even skipped periods a lot. I now am using Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo and have been using it for about 5 months and it has done wonder for my face. My face is still not as clear as it once was in my teenage years, but it has dramatically reduced my acne and what was full of red marks. I still have acne scars but I think this is a good bcp for me. The bad thing about it is that I think it makes me way too overemotional when I'm about to have my period and my period definitely comes out a lot darker than when I was on Loestrin 24 Fe Lo. Answered by Cruz Aiken 6 months ago.
I took Loestrin 24 for two months. It worked fine for me... no change in skin at all, and I have pretty good skin. The only thing I noticed was that sometimes, I felt really full or a little sick after only eating only a little bit. Not really a big deal to me, though. My period lasted for only like 3 days, too. I would consider trying it; I didn't feel depressed at all. Answered by Vivan Dais 6 months ago.
I've taken Yaz for almost a year now....I don't really have any adverse side effects, but I really don't think it is a big help at stabilizing moodiness either. Also, my periods haven't regulated like we wanted. Hope this helps.... Also, mail order it three months in advance if you choose Yaz-WAY cheaper! Answered by Bethanie Conkel 6 months ago.
i took loestrin 24 fe for 6 months and the only thing i didn't like was the weight that i gained, i gained about 10 pounds while on it but i didn't notice any mood changes or depression or anything like that. i liked it and my period was only 3 days. :) Answered by Tyron Breitweiser 6 months ago.

You didn't mention how old you are. I have been taking Loestrin 1/20 for MANY years now without issues. I am on the low dose because I am am 46 years old. I never take the last three pills (21 vs 24 pack) as it makes no sense to me to have my period for the Fri - Sun instead of Tues - Thurs. the 24 pack was a new invention to get a new patent.... Talk to your doctor at any rate but maybe you need a low dose pill or maybe you can't tolerate any pills at all. Answered by Heath Forinash 6 months ago.
