When they say salt substitute they mean something like Mrs. Dash (or anything else for that matter) that contains Potassium Chloride. Klor-Con is a potassium supplement often given in addition to diuretics that deplete potassium. If you get too much potassium you could develop hyperkalemia (i.e. too much potassium) and other negative effects. It is a potassium supplement that is often given in conjunction with a diuretic ( water pill).Some diuretics may cause you to loose so much fluid that the balance between the critical elements sodium, potassium, & chloride are thrown way off. Klor-Con has NO addictive or "mind-altering" side-effects. it will NOT make you "high". it WILL, though, make your muscles numb and weak, and possibly make your lips numb. When they say salt substitute they mean something like Mrs. Dash (or anything else for that matter) that contains Potassium Chloride. Klor-Con is a potassium supplement often given in addition to diuretics that deplete potassium. If you get too much potassium you could develop hyperkalemia (i.e. too much potassium) and other negative effects.
