Can I use floxin antibiotic for dogs eye infection?
My dog has an eye infection. I do not want to have to pay the $70.00 to visit the doctor so he can tell me my dog has an eye infection. When my son recently had an eye infection we used floxin. I was wondering if this antibiotic would be safe to use on my golden retriver? Asked by Kelsey Malasky 1 year ago.

Before you consider usage of this particular antibiotic you should note a few things. This is not a licensed animal drug, nor is the active antibiotic ingredient licensed in any animal drugs (in the UK at least). Consequently there has been no studies performed to assess toxicity levels and possible reactions in veterinary patients. Some antibiotics can be potentially damaging to mammalian cells and as such it would be more advisable to use a veterinary product. You also could be legally liable if you use this product outside of its license and there is any problems. The vet may seem expensive but it is usually money well spent! I have no insurance and cannot go back to the doctor. My friend has ear drops called FLOXIN... Will it help my infection? Will it just put more liquid in my ear and make it worse? My ear is swollen shut so no liquid is coming out but i can feel it in there, for over 2 weeks. Answered by Dorene Browman 1 year ago.

Zithromax is an antibiotic which is usually the best treatment for ear infections. I know it usually takes awhile to work. Even though you stop taking zithromax after 5 days usually it is still working in your system for a total of 10 days. So unfortunately you need to stick out a few more days and see if the antibiotic helps. The drops will likely not do much. Answered by Lonnie Kali 1 year ago.

I think Floxin is for tubes. If you don't have tubes in your ear, then don't put it in there. Go to the ER. They are usually pretty good about working with your payments. Answered by Cruz Patee 1 year ago.

Can i use floxin otic (ofloxacin) for an ear infection when taking penicillin?
this is for my girlfriend who has mono like symptoms, and a strep throat, which is why she is taking penicillin. but she says her ears hurt. and when i had mono my ears hurt too. so i am just wondering if she can mix without harm? Asked by Elfriede Ising 1 year ago.

I think your intentions are well-meaning, but you're also not a medical provider either. I've never seen someone with Mono AND Strep Throat in all my years caring for patients. Not to mention, it is a BIG "NO-NO" to use antibiotics with Mono. I would think the doctor said this to convey the "symptoms," because they can often be rather similar. Hold off on the drops. Strep commonly affects the ears to cause pain, but the drops will be useless because they will NOT work past the eardrum. She will be better off taking some Aleve or Advil to reduce her pain. Best of luck! Answered by Kacey Bobrowski 1 year ago.

Never, ever self-medicate or share prescription medications. For one thing, it is illegal to share any prescription medications. Also, you said your girlfriend has "mono like symptoms" and strep throat. What do you mean by "mono like"? Was the doctor informed of this at the time of the strep throat diagnosis and penicillin administration? If the mono like symptoms are a new development, she should return to her doctor. If the doctor was aware of those symptoms, then he is probably thinking that the penicillin will cover all of that. Your girlfriend should start to feel better by day 3 or 4 but must finish her medication until it is gone or as instructed by her doctor. Penicillin remains the drug of choice for treating strep throat. Do not give her your floxin. Your otic floxin is specific for ear infections. You do not know that she really has an ear infection. Since it is an antibiotic, it will kill any bugs that are susceptible to it. We all have bacteria colonizing us everywhere. Indiscriminate use of antibiotics kills off a lot of our "good" and normal bacteria. This leaves plenty of room for the bad bacteria to grow. You could, in fact, make things worse instead of better. Don't disrupt the balance unless its for an infection and under the direction of a doctor. Answered by Vera Mcneary 1 year ago.

NEVER EVER mix prescription drugs without first talking to a health care provider. You could cause more harm than good. Answered by Joycelyn Somvang 1 year ago.

Olive oil is perfect. Good luck! Answered by Enoch Padron 1 year ago.

olive oil is not a cure for ear infection.. it just help soften hardened ear wax on your ear canal.. for infections, doctors prescribe an antibiotic ear drop.. yes its effective just follow what the doctor says, for example 3x a day for 1week.. **strict adherence is important while on an antibiotic therapy because if you failed to do so you may develop superinfection or the microorganisms causing you infection will be drug resistant making them hard to destroy & the previous medication wont be effective anymore (they are resistant to it already) Answered by Torie Armenteros 1 year ago.

I'm no doctor but try holding a warm blow dryer to your ear, the warmth will keep the ear dry and also sooth it. Make sure the dryer is not on hot. Also make sure the dryer is not excessively loud. Answered by Sharleen Fedak 1 year ago.
