Besides being pregnant, what else could cause a pregnancy test to show positive?
Asked by Bernita Teal 1 year ago.

if you take any of the following drugs Clomid, Serophene, Gonal-F, Follistim, Humegon, Pergonal, Repronex or Fertinex you could get a false positive. False hCG levels can be generated by taking drugs such as Profasi, Pregnyl or Novarel as well. The earliest you can get a positive result on the most sensitive pregnancy tests is seven days after ovulation. Implantation needs to occur before hCG is produced, and that generally happens between 6-12 days post ovulation, usually by 10 days after. For this reason, it makes economical sense to wait until 10-12 days after ovulation, but even then a significant percentage of women who are indeed pregnant will still show a negative result. If you have not had an hCG injection (common in fertility treatment, brands include Profasi, Pregnyl and Novarel), you can believe the positive, but you might get a false negative. If your period is late, test again. Your hCG levels should double every 2-3 days and many people won't have a positive HPT until the first day of a missed period or even a few days later. Answered by Tiana Sevedge 1 year ago.

i have heard certain prescription drugs out there may cause a postive result. Also if u have recently miscarried you still may be carrying some of the hormones to give it a positive result. I recently took a clearblue easy digital test. It said pregnant. I got all excited. I then took a number more tests and they ALL turned out negative. I have not missed my period yet persay so if i do I will be going to get a blood test. I am still trying to figure out why MINE turned out pos if i am not preggo. Answered by Lita Kenneth 1 year ago.

i think it may be problems with the test, because as far as i know, pregnancy tests measure the human corionic gonadotrophin hormones in urine. this hormone isn't produced by human adults in any situation, it's produced by the corion, that is a part of the placenta, formed by the embryo.
