What effect would an increase in duration of the action potential have on the duration of the absolute refractory period? Ok, so if we were to administer potassium channel blocker drugs to a patient, these would increase the duration of the AP since we dont have the usual rapidness of hyperpolarization. As a result, then the ERP would be increased as would the ARP, correct? For what are these types of drugs used? ( I haven´t yet had pharm ). Any help is appreciated. Potassium channel blockers are used in the treatment of cardiac arrhythmia and are classified as class III antiarrhythmic agents. These drugs bind to and block the potassium channels that are responsible for phase 3 repolarization. Therefore, blocking these channels slows (delays) repolarization, which leads to an increase in action potential duration and an increase in the effective refractory period (ERP). Drugs in this class include amiodarone (Cordarone), dronedarone (Multaq), bretyllium (Bretylol), sotalol (Betapace), ibutilide (Corvert) and dofetilide (Tikosyn). How to cure hiccups with water?

This is an Alternative Medicine forum not Allopathic !!! What's with all the drugs??? Bend your neck forward and sip water that way. Try adding honey to warm H2O... Hold your breath for twenty seconds and think of something fun you did when you were a child. If you can make your mind drift away you can trick (hypnotize) your self to curing the hiccup faster as there is no real cure for hiccups (unless you have a chronic disorder then you need other treatments) but TIME .
