Is it safe to use Benylin and antibiotics together?
I have acute tonsillitis, and i was prescribed antibiotics. But because they arent doing anything for the pain, i was wondering if it would be safe to use Benylin too.
Asked by Ciera Degenaro 4 months ago.
Benylin is a trade name for dextromethorphan, an antitussive. Fancy word for cough suppressant. Benylin won't do anything for the pain either, any more than the antibiotics will. I recommend Tylenol (follow label instructions carefully!), a mild pain reliever. Answered by Carlie Mahajan 4 months ago.

Hi guys. I have been suffering from a very nasty chesty cough for the past 12 days and it is not showing any signs of improving. I have been taking Benylin: For chesty coughs since yesterday and had read reviews that some people who have taken it could feel an immediate difference after their first dose. So far I still feel the same. I feel soooooo awful. Have any of you taken this medicine, and if so, how long did it take to start kicking in? Answered by Kaye Winberg 4 months ago.
Benylin contains dextromethorphan, a cough supressant and shouldn't be used in people with chesty, productive coughs. Something with an expectorant, such as Mucinex is more appropriate. You may need to consult a doctor now. Suppressing a productive cough can cause pneumonia and other dangerous lung problems, such as pleurisy and bronchitis. Consult a pharmacist next time on your symptoms and recommended medications. Read the labels and do research on the medications that you take. I hope that you feel better soon, God bless. A cup of fizzy lemonade in the microwave for 40 seconds. Soothes your chest and throat. I found this works better than any medicine. Get well soon. Answered by Kennith Jung 4 months ago.
Benylin Tickly Cough Medicine with piriton?
will this be ok? I have a Tickly cough so I took some Benylin Tickly cough medicine, but my mum says shes been a bit tickly recently and she just took some Piriton doses (half a tablet once a day) and she was ok. Can I take some piriton now or will that not go well with the benylin?
Asked by Cherrie Balonek 4 months ago.
Benylin is safe, as is piriton, however they contain different antihistamines. It is best to stick with one or the other, although both do the same thing. If you choose to switch from one to the other, allow at least six hours after taking the benylin, or twelve hours after taking the piriton to avoid cumulative dose interactions. Why when I take cough medicine like Benylin, I later notice that my skin has fewer pimples and blackheads?
Is there an ingredient in Benylin that helps the skin? Or is it the fact that Benylin helps bloating making digestion faster. If anyone knows why cough syrup like Benylin seems to help the skin please comment. Thanks.

i googled diphenhydramine (the antihistamine in benylin) and acne and found a study with the following conclusion: In conclusion, our data show the presence of histamine receptors on sebocytes, demonstrate how an antagonist to these receptors modulated cellular function, and may indicate a new paradigm for acne therapy involving an H-1 receptor-mediated pathway. so theoretically anthistamines could lower or somehow modulate characteristics of sebum. in plain english, yes benylin can help acne by altering sebum production (the oily, waxy substance that clogs your pores). Check it with your vet my dog had Benylin when he had kennel cough but only after speaking to my vet Benylin is a cough medicine sold here in the UK for humans but can be used on dogs after asking your vet Answered by Aletha Kroenke 4 months ago.
Do you mean Bendryl? That doesn't help with coughs. You really should have him checked out...coughs can be from virus, infection, pneumonia, tumors, heartworms, etc. Answered by George Obin 4 months ago.
Can you take benylin mucus cough with lemsips?
i was just wondering if anyone knew if you could take benylin mucus chesty cough with lemsips ?
Asked by Selma Gadewoltz 4 months ago.
Not if the Lemsip medicine you take contains guaifenesin.Best advice is to avoid Benylin altogether - it is an expensive version of other cough medicines. I ALWAYS go for Covonia as it has more powerful ingredients. It really sorts out your cough with no messing around. Hope you feel better soon! Answered by Stella Klima 4 months ago.

call the Triage nurse @ your local hospital. They will tell you whether or not you need to come in and have your stomach pumped. Like one person said it is not that good to take so much ibuprofen all at once. Benylin I am not sure what it is, but you don't specific how my you took of that. I can't imagine why you would do such a thing or what you were trying to prove, but I would certainly either call the ER and talk to the Triage Nurse or the Poison Control line NOW!! Good Luck. I hope all turns out well. Answered by Tama Mantuano 4 months ago.
Your blood will be extremely thinned out. Avoid cutting yourself or drinking alcohol for the next 24 hours. Definitely eat something to help absorb what you can. A serious overdose of tylenol or ibuprofen can bring on a slow, painful death by destroying your liver... so if this was a suicide attempt, (which I hope it wasn't), its one of the worst ways to go. You haven't taken enough to worry about that however. Are you on any other medications? Do you have a history of heart problems? More than likely, its nothing to worry about assuming you have no serious medical history. Eat some bread, drink lots of water. 800 mg of ibuprofen is prescription strength... what in the world were you thinking? Good luck! Answered by Francie Olide 4 months ago.
no, you wont die, thats like what 2 tylenol and like 10 ibuprofen. youll be fine, but why did you do that? and ya know, taking a ton of ibuprofen at one eats away and the lining of your stomach and youll end up with gastrointestinal problems Answered by Selina Fallenstein 4 months ago.
You should probably call Poison Control, just to be sure. Their number is 1-800-222-1222. They are not going to hassle you or anything - be honest with them and they will tell you if you need to worry or not. Tell them exactly what you took, how much, and when, then follow their instructions. Please go ahead and call them. They're friendly and just want to help. Answered by Tisha Florestal 4 months ago.
why would you even do that? all you need is one or the other, don't take both and no you wont die. youre ears will ring and your kidneys will cry, but youll be fine. dont do it again or youll end up in the darwin awards Answered by Leslie Nelli 4 months ago.
Why would you do that? Hang on you'll know what happens in a couple hours. JK! Answered by Janene Nuniz 4 months ago.
its a possibility, dont do it again if you survive it Answered by Dodie Lockemer 4 months ago.

Is it okay to take tylenol and benylin together?
i have a really bad headache, and i have a sore throat, so i'm just wondering is it okay to take them together?
Asked by Tora Garramone 4 months ago.
should be okay. I've run into this problem this week. I've had a sore throat and a headache but all the cold medicine treats that and other symptoms I don't have. So I treat the ones I've had. tylenol for the headache and plain cough syrup(which is what benylin is). works like a charm. I don't feel as drugged up either like I would on a multi purpose cold medicine. Answered by Christen Elvey 4 months ago.
I wouldn't risk it. Most cold medicines have Tylenol in them so you should be able to find one that deals with sore throat too. Answered by Numbers Chet 4 months ago.

If I get that pain, even though I have no congestion, the only thing I know works for me is Benylin cold and sinus. I have tryed many others in Canada but only Benylin works for me. I am in the States now for a weekend and have been looking for this medication at Wal-mart. Out of frustrating for not finding Benylin there and not having much time, I took an equate brand instead (Suphedrine PE). So far it doesn't seem to be working. Plus the humidity in the area seems to make things worse. Answered by Isidra Dimauro 4 months ago.
you could try delsym - it is a cough syrup look for medication that contains Dextromethorphan which is the active ingredient in benylin Answered by Mariella Koinzan 4 months ago.
