Today my doctor prescribed Aviane 28. I visited the doctor with questions regarding my irregular period. I am seventeen years old and have had my period regularly for four years. However, within the last three months I have had my period six times. On Saturday March 22nd, I got my period and it was regular for the six days I usually get it. However, it did not go away. It was very very light for three days and then became heavy again. So I have been menstruating since last Saturday. So, with my new birth control I am wondering if I can start this Sunday? Or, would I have had to start last Sunday, the day after my period started? Will it make a difference or be less effective if I do start this Sunday? Thank you! Answered by Misty Tauarez 1 month ago.
I am on Aviane right now. My doctor had me start it the first Sunday I was bleeding. Thats what it said on the pamplet too. I have been bleeding for several months, so I really have forgotten what a reg. period is like. I guess you could wait until you start back up again and then take it the first Sunday that comes around. Or just give your doctors office a call and see what they say. Ok, I've been on Alesse 28 for 2 1/2 years, then in 2006 I switched to Aviane 28 ( which is the Generic Brand of Alesse 28) ANYWAYS, I've NEVER missed a pill and ALWAYS took the pill at the same time. I am having protected sex, when I say protected, I mean I make him "pull out" even with the condom on. Sometimes the condom does break, but thats AFTER he PULLS OUT. you get me?. WELL, for the past 6 months off and on my period has been acting funny, like sometimes I'll get it for 2 days in stead of 4-5. AND it's more of a BROWNISH, LIGHT PINK discharge instead of a heavy flow. Sometimes i'll get a heavy flow, but like i said in the past 6 months, 3 out of 6 my period feels like it doesn't want to come down if that makes any sense. I get cramping, and I get it always on my 5th placebo pill which is normal, but Iwant to know if my body starting to go through the changes? is the hormones from the pill messing up my period after the past 5 years? should i think about switching pills? HELP!! Answered by Yuriko Matejek 1 month ago.
I'm taking the same pill right now and the only time I've experiaced something sort of like that was when I skipped my placebo pill and jumped right to the next pack (boyfriend just graduated boot camp and my period certainly wasn't gonna get in the way), but Aviane is a very low dose birth control pill so it would be incredibly odd for it to be causing symtpoms like that. It is probably just your body changing and not a result of the pill. Also, after startign this pill, my period did shorter from 5 days to 2ish sometimes 3 days in length, but hey I can't complain. And just some information: Different Types of Discharge White: Thick, white discharge is common at the beginning and end of your cycle. Normal white discharge is not accompanied by itching. If itching is present, thick white discharge can indicate a yeast infection. Clear and stretchy: This is "fertile" mucous and means you are ovulating. Clear and watery: This occurs at different times of your cycle and can be particularly heavy after exercising. Yellow or Green: May indicate an infection, especially if thick or clumpy like cottage cheese or has a foul odor. Brown: May happen right after periods, and is just "cleaning out" your vagina. Old blood looks brown. Spotting Blood/Brown Discharge: This may occur when you are ovulating/mid-cycle. Sometimes early in pregnancy you may have spotting or a brownish discharge at the time your period would normally come. If you have spotting at the time of your normal period rather than your usual amount of flow, and you have had sex without using birth control, you should check a pregnancy test. Amoxicillin will minimize the stages of your beginning manipulate even as you're at the amoxicillin, and potentially for somewhat after. How a lot it is going to cut down it varies from sufferer to sufferer or even healing to healing. Normal stages of beginning manipulate will regularly resume inside 24 to forty eight hours after preventing amoxicillin. Answered by Marcell Mauller 1 month ago.
Just started Aviane-28?
I just took my first pill today, May 17th. I started my period the 13th. How long should it take until it will be safe to have unprotected sex?
Asked by Velma Maestas 1 month ago.
1 complete cycle to reach maximum effectiveness. Unprotected? I wouldn't advise it. The pill is 98% effective at preventing pregnancies. Have him use a condom. It will not only bring the prevention effectiveness to almost 100% but will also prevent STD's. Answered by Oretha Stengle 1 month ago.
you should be on the pill for a month but just because your on the pill doesn't completely protect you from getting pregnant and doens't protect you at all from STD's...be careful Answered by Leanne Stephens 1 month ago.
Amoxicillin and Aviane-28?
Does the Amoxicillin affect my birth control only as long as I'm taking the Amoxicillin, or will it affect the over-all protection throughout the month?
Asked by Stan Hawkins 1 month ago.
I woke up feeling absolutely terrible, so I didn't go to any of my classes today. I made a doctors appointment at 3:30P today and found out why I've been so sick and cranky - I have both an ear and sinus infection. My doctor prescribed 2 tablespoons of Amoxicillin for 10 days. When I went to the pharmacy to get my medication, I figured that it would be a good time to fill my birth control as well (Aviane-28). When the pharmacist handed me my medication and my prescription, she explained how much and how often to take the Amoxicillin, but she also said that it would conflict with my birth control prescription. As of right now, I have 10 more days until I start my new pack (I always get it early in case something comes up), but I was also prescribed to take the Amoxicillin for 10 days. My question is, if when I stop taking the Amoxicillin when my prescription is over and start taking my birth control, will my birth control still be affected? Answered by Vikki Karnath 1 month ago.
The reason we tell people that amoxicillin (or any antibiotic) may conflict with birth control is that it may interfere with the way the hormones in the birth control are eliminated by the body. It's not actually thought to be a huge risk with amoxicillin, but you know...better to be safe than sorry. We usually tell patients to use a back-up form of birth control, usually condoms, for at least ten days after completing the antibiotic regimen. You don't have to stop taking your birth control while you're on the amoxicillin, though--you can take both and I would continue to take both. I hope you feel better soon! Answered by Lynetta Ananias 1 month ago.
Amoxicillin will lower the levels of your birth control while you are on the amoxicillin, and possibly for a bit after. How much it will reduce it varies from patient to patient and even treatment to treatment. Normal levels of birth control will typically resume within 24 to 48 hours after stopping amoxicillin. Are you protected during the sugar pills? Aviane 28?
I've been taking aviane 28 for almost 2 years and I've never practiced unprotected sex during the sugar pills, are you protected even on those days? I always take the pill on time and don't miss them. Thanks
Asked by Lesia Ferugson 1 month ago.
YES YES YES the pill works like this, you take the 21 hormones pills, they trick the body into thinking it is pregnant, NO OVULATION OCCURS, then you take the 7 marker pills and the body says hey, not pregnant and it sheds the uterine lining. Again NO ovulation occurs. Answered by Francisca Pezzimenti 1 month ago.
With all birth control nothing is 100% accurate the surface pill time is actually the highest point in which the birth control can fail Answered by Haywood Gasca 1 month ago.
The sugar pills are taken during your period. You can't get pregnant during your period, as the egg is being flushed out. So...no. Answered by Grazyna Maclain 1 month ago.
I got the aviane 28 day birth control pillls. what pill do i start with?
i am getting married in a month. i want to start the pills now
Asked by Elmer Hadsall 1 month ago.
I'm going to be completely honest and you should do this if you want the best guidance. 1. You should go talk to a doctor. 2. At the least you should find someone with experience in this cuz. . . I have never had sex either. . . .yup, virgin but I know birth control is a lil tricky so make sure you get the right advice p.s. also, you could talk to a pharmicist in like duane reade, rite aid. Answered by Dwight Somdah 1 month ago.
Well, I think it could be pretty likely. Ideally you are supposed to start birth control pills on the first day of your period. That way you get immediate contraceptive protection. If you start taking them on a normal day I think they need at least a couple of weeks to get into your system and start having an effect. You need to take a pregnancy test and come off the pill. If you are pregnant and carry on taking the pill it can harm your baby. Do some research on the pill before you start using it. You can't just swallow it then go and have sex and be protected Answered by Thresa Schmelter 1 month ago.

Recently, she was given Amoxicillin by her dentist to treat the pain in a filling in her molar that she received about a year ago. She is to take 1500 mg of Amoxicillin each day for about a week. According to the pharmacist that gave her the medication, it can interfere with the effectiveness of her birth control (Aviane-28). Is this true, and if so, to what degree will the effectiveness of her birth control be decreased? Answered by Kaitlyn Spizzirri 1 month ago.
The Pharmacist is correct. It can decrease the effectiveness of oral contraceptives increasing the chances of her becoming pregnant. Time for you to wear a condom while she is on the medication and for an additional 7-10 days after she finishes them. Answered by Dionna Radick 1 month ago.

Hey, no big deal. Cos if your period had started on monday, not on sunday, then the following sunday would have been correct. So its really only a day difference, not 7 days, if you look at it that way. In theory you are supposed to wait 7 days before unprotected sex, I am confident that the same will count in this situation too. But if you want to be extra, extra sure, then perhaps leave it 10 days. Just to be 100% sure. I am happy that you and your bf tested. But what for, btw? :) Answered by Manie Scates 1 month ago.

Obviously, the closer you are to your usual time, the more effective it is, but according to her doctor, you have about an hour on either side of your usual time in which the dosage is still considered fully effective, and any time outside of that window is considered an ineffective (missed) dose.
