Is it ok to drink alcohol with Augmentin 500 mg pills?
hi i am on Augmentin 500 mg pills. take 1 tablet twice a day. am i allowed to drink alcohol while im on this medication? Asked by Jacalyn Loguidice 1 month ago.

Augmentin may cause dizziness. Alcohol may potentiate this effect. I would not recommend it. Answered by Dennise Schapiro 1 month ago.

Colors may have a biology degree, but he could not be more wrong. Drinking alcohol totally negates the effectiveness of antibiotics. So, if you drink plan on going back to the doctor for more antibiotics, or save yourself the time and money and just don't drink while taking the augmentin. Answered by Jae Lidke 1 month ago.

Yes, it's okay in moderation. Also it's very important with antibiotics to finish all the pills, even though you feel better right away. Answered by Jamar Werderman 1 month ago.

It's not going to hurt you, but it's not going to help much either, getting lots of rest would be better. Answered by Ashleigh Kenyon 1 month ago.

I am on 10 days of Augmentin 500 mg (the pill) and I am on my 8th day as of yesterday when I began getting constipation. It is pretty painful. It feels like my bowel is sitting there and having trouble passing it through without pain (TMI) sorry. Is constipation a side effect of Augmentin and why now? I am almost done with Augmentin. I did not take my dose yesterday cause of the constipation being bad and not sure if it's causing it?? Help please. I have took a stool softner last night and Fletchers too but still having the same issue this morning. Answered by Ruthanne Montney 1 month ago.

Constipation is not a side effect of Augmentin 500. Diarrhea is an usual side effect but not diarrhea. I think you should consult your doctor. You could also take a laxative for example Fleet. Some foods are also good to cure constipation, such as apple, tea with lemon, papayas, bananas, aloe vera and coffee. Get well soon. Answered by Dorian Matsu 1 month ago.

Yars63 is correct, it is never a good idea to mix alcohol and medications, however... if we're just talking about an occasional drink here and there, I think it probably wouldn't hurt. Just avoid chugging the beer or slamming shots to the point of becoming falling down drunk. Answered by Daphine Failla 1 month ago.

Can you mix doxycycline and augmentin antibiotics?
I am on 100 mg of doxycyline a day and augmentin 500 mg twice a day. Is that ok to take together? Asked by Dustin Heppding 1 month ago.

They are in different classes, so there should be no problem. Just remember, doxycycline works best on an empty stomach and Augmentin may cause some stomach upset, so it should be taken with food. Answered by Magnolia Niday 1 month ago.

Why is there a lower amount of clavulanic acid in augmentin xr?
than in regular augmentin? Asked by May Njie 1 month ago.

This is what wikipedia says, copy-paste. "Dosage The proportions of the two constituents are expressed as x/y where x and y are the strengths in milligrams of amoxicillin and clavulanic acid respectively. However, the branded products indicate their strengths as the quantity of amoxicillin, hence co-amoxiclav 250/125 ≡ Augmentin 250 and contains 250 mg of amoxicillin with 125 mg of clavulanic acid.[1][2] Standard adult dosages for respiratory tract, urinary, abdominal and dental infections as well as cellulitis and animal bites is co-amoxiclav 250/125 (one tablet Augmentin 250) taken every 8 hours, which may be doubled in severe infections (as a single tablet of co-amoxiclav 500/125 ≡ Augmentin 500, but not as two co-amoxiclav 250/125 tablets which would double the maximum recommended dose of clavulanic acid). In the US, Augmentin XR (co-amoxiclav 1000/62.5) is marketed for use in community acquired pneumonia with two tablets taken twice a day (giving 4000 mg total daily dose of amoxicillin). Dosages for children are also given three times a day using suspensions containing co-amoxiclav 250/62 in each 5 mL (Augmentin '250/62 SF') for those between the ages of 6–12 years and co-amoxiclav 125/31 (Augmentin '125/31 SF') for those between the ages of 1–6 years. A more concentrated solution, co-amoxiclav 400/57 (Augmentin '400/57 SF'), may be administered more conveniently just twice daily to children from as young as 2 months of age; quantities are based on body weight with 2.5 mL from the age of 2 years and 5 mL after the age of 6 years. An intravenous preparation of Co-amoxiclav has been available in the UK and Australia since 1985,[3] but there is no parenteral preparation available in the US: the nearest equivalent is ampicillin-sulbactam." Mixing Adderall XR 20 mg. and AMOX/K CLAV 500 mg. (subst. For: Augmentin 500 mg.?
Are there any bad side affects when mixing these two? Asked by Nannie Alirez 1 month ago.

I am sure there would be no reason why you couldn't. 1 is an antibiotic and the other that treats ADHD or associated disorders......am I right? They both target different things. You should really give your local pharmacy a phone call and question them on it before you take them together and if they can't give you an answer check with your doc. Better to be safe than sorry. Good luck and take care. Answered by Kelly Stello 1 month ago.

ConfuZed 0n LIF3, Augmentin is an oral antibacterial combination consisting of the semisynthetic antibiotic amoxicillin and the β-lactamase inhibitor, clavulanate potassium (the potassium salt of clavulanic acid). Amoxicillin is an analog of ampicillin, derived from the basic penicillin nucleus. Augmentin is indicated in the treatment of sinus infections caused by β-lactamase–producing strains of H. influenzae and M. catarrhalis. The usual adult dose is one 500-mg tablet of Augmentin every 12 hours or one 250-mg tablet of Augmentin every 8 hours. For more severe infections and infections of the respiratory tract, the dose should be one 875-mg tablet of Augmentin every 12 hours or one 500-mg tablet of Augmentin every 8 hours. [Since both the 250-mg and 500-mg tablets of Augmentin contain the same amount of clavulanic acid (125 mg, as the potassium salt), two 250-mg tablets of Augmentin are not equivalent to one 500-mg tablet of Augmentin; therefore, two 250-mg tablets of Augmentin should not be substituted for one 500-mg tablet of Augmentin.] There are known side-effects for this drug and if you consider that you are suffering from them, details are included on the data sheet enclosed with the medication, you should consult your doctor, or report back to the hospital who issued you with the treatment. Provided there is no adverse interactions known – check with your pharmacist – some nasal decongestants are often successful in reducing or removing the discomfort of sinus pain, if administered in the correct fashion. Many antibiotics are prescribed for 10 days but it can vary. Whoever wrote the presciption should have indicated to you how long you should take this med. You should take it for the entire course that it was prescibed for. Answered by Kacy Raber 1 month ago.

Ask whoever diagnosed you and prescribed the Augmentin. Answered by Darcel Majure 1 month ago.
