Alprazolam is a great Anti-Anxiety med, and great for "preventing" Panic Attacks. .025 mg is the lowest dose. It would not hurt "me" to take 2 of that dose or even 4 of that dose. Alprazolam or "Xanax" as it's best known;.....comes in up to 2.0 mg tablets or = to 8 of the tablets you have currently. If I were in your situation, and I hadn't taken any since Friday Night, I would take 2 ...or, = to 2 tablets of the strength you have now. I take .5 as needed for anxiety and to help prevent Panic Attacks, but, I can take up to 4 or more a day if I need to. If you are not used to this med, 2 tablets would or should be sufficent. This can be taken 4-6 hours and Alprazolam has a decent "half-life" and should see you through. I use "ME" as an example as I would rather share my knowledge in addressing my own self as to not seem to be "telling you" or giving medical advice which I am not, would not, or can not. Hope your anxiety gets knocked down. Xanax (Alprazolam) is a great med for anxiety!! Answered by Theresia Bebeau 4 months ago.
There is usually a cause to panic attacks. Anxiety and panic can begin after severe stress, bereavement, past trauma, withdrawal symptoms from medications or excessive alcohol. Anxiety and panic can be triggered by an adverse reaction to medications. I think you should look for the cause of your panic rather than using addictive drugs which will stop working after a few weeks due to tolerance. Perhaps fone a helpline, join a support group or get CBT or counselling. Talk to a friend, partner or family. Answered by Neville Lobosco 4 months ago.
Look at your prescription bottle. What does it say about how often you can take it. Not to evade your question, but this medication needs to be taken as directed by your doctor. If you have questions about it, be safe. Call your doctor or pharmacist. In the long run, you need to find out what's causing these panic attacks. If you need to consult a therapist, do it. There's nothing to be embarrassed about if you need help Good luck. Answered by Pattie Bonnett 4 months ago.

What is triazolam and is it like alprazolam?
Is it close to alprazolam?
Asked by Dallas Haberle 4 months ago.
Triazolam is a benzodiazepine -- which is the SAME family as alprazolam (Xanax). A common brand name for Triazolam is (Halcion). It is in the same family, and targets the GABA receptors in the brain to produce many of the same effects as Alprazolam does -- however it is not used for the same purposes for several reasons. Triazolam has a VERY short half-life -- this means that the drug doesn't last long in your system and therefore wears off quickly. This isn't beneficial in most cases for anxiety issues (which is the primary reason benzodiazepines are used for..) Further, Triazolam has a high occurrence of psychiatric problems -- even with therapeutic dose ranges. Thus medications are always weighed on what is termed as a 'Risk to Benefit ratio" -- which is essentially a manner of saying do the positive effects of the medication outweigh the negative effects, and IF so.. by what amount/percent/ratio. -- Triazolam has a high risk to benefit ratio -- with between 10-20% of patients being unable to tolerate the medication (which is substantial when dealing with the benzodiazepine family of medications) -- in contrast only about 1-2% of alprazolam patients cannot tolerate the effects of Xanax. Also, Triazolam tends to cause an INCREASE in anxiety after a relatively short term use of this benzo -- It can occur in 3-4 weeks. Benzodiazepines work on the Gabanergic receptors which are responsible for anxiolytic effects (calmness/reduced anxiety, etc) -- So any drug of this classification that causes such a paradoxical (opposite) reaction in a short period of time doesn't lend it for treatment of anxiety disorder. That said -- it isn't totally worthless -- Triazolam has a very high sedative effect (much more pronounced than Alprazolam) -- and as such is sometimes used for severe insomnia (in very short durations (a few days at most). This is the primary use -- other than some medical anesthesia applications -- while Alprazolam (along with others in the benzo family -- such as clonazepam (Klonopin), lorazepam (Ativan), Diazepam (Valium) and so on -- are ALL used for panic disorders (panic attacks),.. generalized anxiety disorder,.. health anxiety,.. acute cardiac situations/stabilization, insomnia etc..) Xanax, Klonopin, Ativan, and Valium are all 'similar' in their action in the brain -- but they all vary enough to each have more specific benefits and uses than the other. As far as potency, Alprazolam is mg per mg about the most potent of the benzodiazepine family (short of some lesser used benzo's). IE: 1mg of Alprazolam (Xanax) is equal roughly to 20mg of Diazepam (Valium). Hope that helps, Take care, Answered by Marlon Neves 4 months ago.
Triazolam is almost chemically identical to alprazolam, but it has an extra chlorine atom. They are both benzodiazepines, so have antidepressant, antianxiety, sedative, anticonvulsant and muscle relaxant effects Triazolam is generally only prescribed for severe insomnia and isn't as effective an antidepressant as alprazolam or other benzodiazepines. If you take the exact same amount of triazolam and alprazolam, only about 44% of the triazolam will be absorbed into the bloodstream, compared to over 80% for alprazolam. Triazolam also stays in your body for a shorter time so to use it as an antidepressant you'd have to take it more often than alprazolam, which isn't really desirable because there is a high risk of overdosing Answered by Kimberli Dantonio 4 months ago.
I don't think this has anything to do with being atheist. I think it belongs in the medicine or mental health or science category. It sounds like a drug that has a lot of side effects! Answered by Marianne Sitz 4 months ago.

Is alprazolam a long term pill that should be taken to calm anxiety?
im 21 and on alprazolam ..supposed to take 3 a day and its 0.5 mg is this good that i should take this 3 times a day? and is it safe to drive? or should i ask my doctor to prescribe some other pill to me? i need a pill that has the LEAST sexual problems though
Asked by Dwain Rezac 4 months ago.
Alprazolam is a short term pill especially if it is taken 3 times a day. It should only be used to calm anxiety while you work on your problems. I don't recommend you use it for more than 6 months. It has a great potential for addiction. People are cautioned not to drive while taking alprazolam, but whether you should drive depends on how alprazolam effects you. The reason you were prescribed 3 times a day is that alprazolam is fairly short acting. There are other drugs like Klonopin and Valium which will work similarly but you can take them less often. Many people say that Klonopin doesn't even make them tired. Also you may find out that you don't need to take alprazolam as often. Do not take the pills less than 4 hours apart. Antidepressants are safer and usually only needed once a day, but they do have the risk of sexual side effects. Other types of drugs may be taken for anxiety. Many people like to take Benadryl, for example. However, like alprazolam and other benzos, it also has the potential to make it unsafe to drive. Answered by Shonta Fazio 4 months ago.
its xanax but generic... I dont think any medication is healthy to take all the time. Your body becomes dependent on that stuff and you will need it or you will be able to tell the difference. Answered by Josiah Kudron 4 months ago.
Alprazolam is the generic name for Xanax, so your choice is between alprazolam and diazepam because you are wasting money not buying the generic. Alprazolam is best for sudden panic attacks. It has a quick onset and short duration without making most people too tired. Diazepam tends to make most people very tired and it also has an extremely long half-life so it is best and superior to Xanax for long-term use. No benzodiazapines are suggested for long-term use and for your safety you should use these under the directions of a doctor and buy the drugs from a reputable and legal source. In the U.S., these drugs are very affordable (less than $20 for 30 day supply without insurance) and if you have an anxiety problem, a good doctor will find the right medication for you. When dealing with general anxiety, benzos are not always the best solution. They are best reserved for panic attacks. In my own experience, SSRIs and SNRIs like Paxil and Effexor have been far superior for long-term treatment. Answered by Rose Marfil 4 months ago.
i think all are generic names of same brand. but i will suggest to take advice from doctors. also i haven't used drugconnection pharmacy personally but one old customer of drugconnectionrx works in my office and had given good review about this pharmacy. also one more important thing drugconnection and drugconnectionrx both are same sister company. 1 and 2 are the same drug...valium/diazepam is the original of the group from the 60s. very little difference in effect, just in potency/mg dose. Answered by Selina Zaidel 4 months ago.
xanax = alprazolam diazepam is a weaker version of alprazolam. they both do pretty much the same thing though. i've read that it takes 40mg of diazepam to live up to 2mg of alprazolam. Answered by Virgilio Kader 4 months ago.

I am prescribed 1 mg of xanax 3 times a day for the last 3 years for panic disorder. I also have GAD, OCD, agoraphobia and asthma. I have searched and searched about people having opposite reactions to the meds but never in the way I have them. They all say they get hyper or gitty as a reaction opposed to being sluggish. I get sluggish heavy feel but within 2 hrs of taking my meds I feel even more anxious than before. About 6 hrs later i start to calm down i can breath again but i start feeling med withdraws it seems. They are wanting to get me off them per my request because they do not and never have had medicinal value to me. I kept telling them it did not work until i was blue in the face and they kept upping the dosage. For instance i took ont at 4:30 this morning within an hour i felt fluish hot to cold temp swings irritable nervous stomach severly upset i could not breath and a few hours later it calmed down. Now it is time to take my next dose. I told my psy last tuesday and they just added in depakote to my meds. Have any of you had this reaction with xanax producing anirty DURING its peak NOT when coming down? Answered by Mana Lowdermilk 4 months ago.
Alprazolam 2mg will help you with anxiety?
Asked by Otilia Ramadanovic 4 months ago.
Yes it will but if you haven't taken Xanax before then I would go with .5mg. Bust the 2mg up into 4th's, it's scored to do this. 2mg is alot for a first time and even at .5 be prepared to sleep. Xanax also only works for a few days before you have to up the dose, after that it continues to lose it's effectiveness the more you use it. Then discontinuing it's use will give you anxiety that's out of this world. A lot of rocking non-stop for a couple days straight with no sleep just to try and cope with the withdrawl. Then like me you can go through a couple weeks of messed up motor skills, like walking through jello. Plus other bad withdrawl symptoms. The drug is ok for use of a couple days, after that it works against you. Answered by Tyron Ellifritz 4 months ago.
What is Pranol and Alprazolam drugs?
My doctor gave me these two drugs and I need to know what these drugs do exactly. Please help. Pranol 10mg and Alprazolam 0.5mg Am I at the brink of a psychopathic disorder?
Asked by Leslie Paik 4 months ago.
Alprazolam is the generic for Xanax (pronounced Zanex) This is a tranquillizer, that soothes your nerves and calms you down. 0.5 may be strong enough for you. I'm on 2mg, which is the strongest. I break them in half and take 1 mg...4 times a day and 2mg for sleep. Xanax can make you drowsy, so be careful driving. I would ask a few pharmacist about Pranol. This is a family of drugs, depending on the additives. Pranol-F is basically the same as Xanax. Pranol 10 is a Beta Blocker. It's used for heart ailments, Migraine headaches and high blood pressure. Find out just what family of this drug you are taking. Never just quit Pranol cold turkey. You must ease yourself off this drug very gradually...ask your doctor. I'm in the boat right next to you, Taghi, I'm the one bailing water out. See if the 0.5 Xanax (Alprazolam) relaxes you. Taking 1 mg is OK but until you get used to it, It might make you sleepy. It's a safe tranquillizer. Answered by Elissa Loffredo 4 months ago.
This medication description is not meant for treatment prescription without the intervention of a specialist Common Uses Alprazolam is used to treat anxiety disorders, panic disorders, and anxiety caused by depression. It works by slowing down the movement of chemicals in the brain that may become unbalanced. This results in a reduction in nervous tension (anxiety) How to Take Take Alprazolam exactly as it was prescribed for you. Do not take the medication in larger amounts, or take it for longer than recommended by your doctor. Follow the directions on your prescription label. Your doctor may occasionally change your dose to make sure you get the best results from this medication. Alprazolam may be habit-forming and should be used only by the person it was prescribed for. Alprazolam should never be shared with another person, especially someone who has a history of drug abuse or addiction. Keep the medication in a secure place where others cannot get to it. Do not crush, chew, or break an extended-release tablet. Swallow the pill whole. It is specially made to release medicine slowly in the body. Breaking the pill would cause too much of the drug to be released at one time. Measure the liquid form of alprazolam with a special dose-measuring spoon or cup, not a regular table spoon. If you do not have a dose-measuring device, ask your pharmacist for one. To take alprazolam orally disintegrating tablets (Niravam): -Using dry hands, remove a tablet from the bottle and place the tablet on your tongue. It will begin to dissolve right away. -Do not swallow the tablet whole. Allow it to dissolve in your mouth without chewing. -Swallow several times as the tablet dissolves. If desired, you may drink liquid after the tablet has completely dissolved. Answered by Shu Sughrue 4 months ago.
Alprazolam is xanex. A mild tranquiler for anxiety. My mother takes 4 a day. I don't know the other drug - but with my wide experience of psychosis - you have nothing to worry about. Anxiety, depression. You are not going to go around the bend. Please don't worry - just take your meds.Oh, but give them enough time to work - perhaps as long as 6 weeks. Alprazolam 2.0 whats the difrence from 0.25?
It was mistakenly given to me....in that dose...they ended up giving me paxil of 10mg.... in replacement of the .25mg of xanax....so is my 10mg of paxil sound more similar to my .25mg of xanax.... im 24 and have been having anxiety attacks kind of often...so the doctor gave me this new meds ...of paxil of 10mg
Asked by Claretta Carriere 4 months ago.
2.0 is 2mg of alprazolam, the maximum dosage. the difference is that the 2mg is equal to 8 of the .25mg. idk how you jumped from getting .25 to 2mg.. but it does save you money. just break up the pill into 4 pieces and just take them like that. the pills are scored. divided equally into 4 .5mg dosages. besides, the dosage doesn't need to be EXACT. it isn't heart or diabetes medicine. was the alprazolam working for you before? alprazolam is an anti-anxeity that acts on the GABA receptors, pretty much in the same area that alcohol works on. paxil is a SSRI that is used for treating depression. major depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety, and generalized anxiety disorder. your doctor won't tell you this, but imho paxil is much more dangerous than alprazolam. Pediatric trials of paxil for depression did not demonstrate statistical efficacy better than placebo and showed an increase in the risk of harmful outcomes, including episodes of self-harm and suicidal thoughts. paxil will increase the risk of having birth defects in pregnant women. In 2001, the BBC reported the World Health Organization had ranked paroxetine as the most difficult antidepressant to withdraw from. In 2002, the U.S. FDA published a new product warning about the drug, and the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Associations said GSK had misled the public about paroxetine and breached two of the Federation's codes of practice. The British Medical Journal quoted Charles Medawar, head of Social Audit: "This drug has been promoted for years as safe and easy to discontinue.... The fact that it can cause intolerable withdrawal symptoms of the kind that could lead to dependence is enormously important to patients, doctors, investors, and the company. GlaxoSmithKline has evaded the issue since it was granted a license for paroxetine over 10 years ago, and the drug has become a blockbuster for them, generating about a tenth of their entire revenue. The company has been promoting paroxetine directly to consumers as 'non-habit forming' for far too long." Paroxetine prescribing information posted at GlaxoSmithKline now acknowledges the occurrence of a discontinuation syndrome, including serious discontinuation symptoms. im assuming one of the main reasons that he replaced the alprazolam with the paxil is because alprazolam can be used recreationally whereas paxil can't. both of the drugs have withdraw symptoms, but the ones coming from paxil are more severe. xanax can cause seizures espically if you are prone to them if you are taking them a lot and suddenly stop. Answered by Shannon Wildin 4 months ago.
Does it say 2.0 mg? If so, it's a far higher dosage than you were previously prescribed and I would consult your doctor about it. EDIT: cutting the pill into pieces will not ensure you get the right dosage you want. I would not suggest doing that at all. Call your doctor. Answered by Lashandra Jebbett 4 months ago.
.25 is the smallest dose, 1 mg. is a pretty big dose. 2 mg. is a bar, which is crazy. Talk to your doctor or a pharmacist. Answered by Beatrice Bauerkemper 4 months ago.
