Side effects of adderall 20 mg capsule?
what are the side effects ? are they different when taken with caffeine?
Asked by Octavio Gossen 1 year ago.
Different individuals respond differently to Adderall medication levels and dosages. While toxic overdose symptoms can manifest rarely with doses of less than 15 mg, toxic Adderall XR symptoms occasionally occur when Adderall is given in doses as low as 5 mg. It has been noted that Adderall abuse produces behavioral and psychological effects similar to cocaine. Symptoms of Adderall abuse include: Marked aggression Irritability Hyperactivity Personality changes In some cases, abruptly stopping Adderall after prolonged high dosage use resulted in extreme fatigue and mental depression. "Normal" side effects: Constipation; diarrhea; dizziness; dry mouth; headache; loss of appetite; nausea; nervousness; restlessness; stomach pain or upset; trouble sleeping; unpleasant taste; vomiting; weakness; weight loss. Detailed: Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); blurred vision or other vision problems; change in sexual ability or desire; chest pain; confusion; fainting; fast or irregular heartbeat; fever, chills, or sore throat; new or worsening mental or mood problems (eg, aggression, agitation, anxiety, delusions, depression, hallucination, hostility); numbness or tingling of an arm or leg; one-sided weakness; painful or frequent urination; red, swollen, peeling, or blistered skin; seizures; severe or persistent headache; severe stomach pain; severe weight loss; shortness of breath; sudden, severe dizziness or vomiting; slurred speech; uncontrolled muscle movement; unusual weakness or tiredness. Would it be alright for me to take one of these pills? I am 16 years old, 5'3", and approximately 125lbs. Please forget the lectures. I wont listen. I'm being a little less stupid since Im asking before taking. Answered by Lynwood Ruhoff 1 year ago.
Well, if you do you are extremely stupid. Besides the fact that any drug is extremely dangerous to be taken without doctor recommendation, Adderall had many dangerous side effects, which include but are not limited to dry mouth, insomnia, head aches, abdominal pain, increased blood pressure, loss of appetite, loss of weight (which sometimes can lead to anorexia), emotional changes, nausea/vomiting, dizziness, diarrhea, asthenia, tachycardia, a wide variety of infections (especially urinary tract infection), fever, and heartburn. So, do you really think feeling like your "cool" is worth high blood pressure and tachycardia (which both can lead to heart problems and death later in life)? Or what about throwing up every 5 minutes? Or what if you're over at your boyfriend's house eating dinner with his parents and you have an explosive case of diarrhea, resulting in the toilet getting clogged up so bad they have to call a plumber and their house smells awful for hours? Or maybe even having an intense burning down under whenever you have to go to the bathroom? All these things are caused by people taking Adderall. If you want to do something dangerous, ride your bike down a really big hill. Don't be one of those stupid kids. Think of what you want in your future...you want to mary the man of your dreams and have a bunch of little kids running around? Well that can't happen if you do one little stupid thing when you're 16 and end up dying. Answered by Kam Wooden 1 year ago.

How many adderall xr 20 mg would I have to take to get high?
I heard that you can get high off this and If so how many do I take. And give me tips on what else I can get high or drunk off of too (seriously) no smart *** answers
Asked by Ilona Mathew 1 year ago.
Adderall doesn't get you high, seriously. It's a stimulant... It'll just make your heart race and not let you sleep. If you have high blood pressure or stress issues, you might hurt yourself. Of course, any medicine you haven't taken before can have disastrous results. Getting high/drunk is never safe. If you're old enough, pick up some liquor or something at the store, and drink it until you get a little buzz, no longer than that or you'll probably end up puking all night and have a massive headache in the morning. Do this really slowly... You won't feel the effects of the drink until a little while later. Also, be extremely careful not to drink too much, keep a buddy around to watch out for you, death from alcohol poisoning isn't that uncommon. Almost forgot, large amounts of adderall/ritalin make people seize. For some people, it takes less. If you have a seizure disorder that hasn't manifested yet, you could draw it out of hiding by doing this... Once you get seizures started, they're difficult to put to rest. Epilepsy is no fun. Believe me, I know. Answered by Corey Bowdich 1 year ago.
Talk with your doctor. It is certainly possible you need a higher dose the maximum is 40 mg/day for ADHD but doctors can go higher. Why did you stop in the first place? You could just be having a different response now that you are older and you may end up needing to try some alternatives like Dexedrine, Ritalin, Concerta, Wellbutrin, or Strattera. Did you have social anxiety and depression in high school? Don't do the ridiculous baking soda mixed with water thing. Try to just do what is prescribed. Doctors are the experts and they should be the people to ask if you have a problem or things are not working. You may also need more than 1 week to start feeling better. You can just go drink some amonia. That will do about the same as a LOT of Adderall. Answered by Shelba Dresser 1 year ago.
I think that is not a wise choice. You shouldn't take medications that aren't prescribed to you-- you could die. Try yoga. Answered by Emerita Mascetti 1 year ago.

Does the time I take the medication affect how it works for me? And also, I have heard weight loss is an issue. I was wondering if taking something like Slimfast would have a negitive effect? I would like to drink that just because I know it fills me up from prior experience, and I know that It has nutrients in it. So if I'm not eating due to lack of appetite during the day, at least I know I'm getting some kinda of nutrition. Thanks in advance! Answered by Karlyn Tinnea 1 year ago.
I took Adderall XR 20 -30 mg for about a year. It helped me a lot when it came to concentrating on schoolwork. I would suggest you take it only before noon, or else it can affect your sleep significantly. About the weight thing....before I started taking the Adderral I weighed about 120 pounds (I am 5ft 6 inches). I dropped 5 pounds within 2 months of starting to take the Adderral. And then I continued to drop more weight until I was staying at 110 pounds. A lot of people thought I had an eating disorder. When you are taking the Adderall, you may feel tempted not to eat much, or not eat at all (I was). In my opinion, Slimfast would be better than nothing for sure...just be sure you stay hydrated with water, because you could get dry mouth! But really, I would suggest you eat real meals or healthy snacks if you have time. Don't cheat your body! Also, you might want to take a few days off from taking the Adderall...just so your body can re-coop. Allure magazine (August 2008 Issue) has an article on Hollywood's diet pill...when I open to the article, it was Adderral. Just watch yourself with the stuff, and ask others if your moods, actions, etc. have changed since you started taking it..... Answered by Leora Bodkins 1 year ago.

You pronounced a hundred and fifty, then later you place 1300.i'm specific you meant 1300,if it incredibly is so then that is a sturdy caloric intake to shed pounds.i do no longer think of you may stay to tell the story long at a hundred and fifty energy an afternoon. I also take the same dosage and my doc told me I do not even need to take them daily or at any certain time. Take them on days you feel you need the extra boost of energy or need to pay attention that day. Also there is no certain time to take them. I was told to take them with my first meal of the day. But usually I take them when I wake up because they take a few hours to fully kick in. As far as slim fast. That is a great idea because it does make you have a lack of appetite and at least you are getting vitamins and what not. Answered by Joella Mainville 1 year ago.

Its because the effects are starting to wear off. Adderall only lasts about 4-6 hours, and then it wears off quickly. It doesn't mean that you are going through withdrawals though. Since you have just started taking Adderall, I would expect that your doctor will most likely be adjusting the dosage in the near future, depending on your response to it. Over time, many, if not most people on Adderall build up a tolerance to the drug. In those cases, it may be necessary for your doctor to increase the dosage. Its really a matter of getting to that 'right' dosage - the one that works best for you. This may be 20 mg, or it may be 40, or even 60 mg or more. Also, you may want to talk to your doctor about dividing the dosages, such as 10 mg at, say, 8 a.m. and the other 10 mg at maybe 2 p.m.,something like that. That way the effects of the drug will be longer lasting. But its important that you don't take any of this drug too late in the day because it can, and usually will interfere with sleep if taken late in the day. The feelings you experienced are normal for someone who has just begun taking this drug. I have found that those feeling tend to go away after a long period of being on Addderall. I'm not saying that you will feel sad and isolated again, but the feeling of increased happiness and attentiveness will return to a more 'normal' state after a while. Its just that your body will get used to the drug at some point. Its still effective at that point, but you won't notice these feelings as much as you do now. Also, if you are feeling sad and isolated, you may want to talk to your doctor about this because s/he might want to give you an anti-depressant to take as well. Just a thought. One thing that you may want to consider doing is to try the name brand Adderall as opposed to a generic version. However, the name brand is much more expensive than generic versions of the drug. And insurance sometimes will not cover it. But, for me anyway, the name brand seems to work a lot better than the generic brands. I have to pay a larger co-payment for the name brand, but to me its worth it. But if I didn't have insurance, the cost of the name brand would be way too high for me to pay every month. There really is a big difference in the costs of the two. But, that also depends on the pharmacy you go to because some charge more than others for the same drug. I found the cost to vary quite a bit actually. I hope this helped! Answered by Eusebia Rininger 1 year ago.

I too am a 25-year-old female that currently takes Adderall 20mgs to treat my ADHD. I take the capsule which is the XR. I however don't seem to be having the problem you are having with the feeling that it is wearing off. Maybe you need to call your pharmacist and ask if you are taking the XR, because it sounds like you are not. The way my doctor explained it to me was that the Adderall works much quicker than most other medications prescribed for ADHD - she said that instead of taking a week or so to get into your system, it starts to take a noticible effect quickly, as quickly as Tylenol or Advil, so that you would notice within 45 minutes or an hour. However, since I am taking the XR, I don't know that the same rules apply to your situation. I will tell you that as far as I can tell, the XR seems to last all day long for me. Also, I am not supposed to take mine if it is after 12 p.m. because it will cause me to not be able to sleep. I should also tell you that I take several other medications to treat my Bi-Polar Disorder which may also have an effect on how well mine works for me as well. If you try the Adderall XR and it still doesn't seem to help you out much, then you may want to talk to your doctor about trying one of the other medications to treat ADHD in adults. There are actually several different ones available, but a lot of doctors like to try the Adderall first since it is the one with the quickest and most noticible results. Of course no two people respond to medications the same way, so the next medication you try might not help you the same as it would effect someone else you know who takes it either. It's kind of a guessing game for a while. It took me almost two years until my doctor and I found the right combination of drugs to treat my Bi-Polar and now she is a little iffy about adding and subtracting anything at all, she prefers to adjust dosages and that's all. I hope things work out well for you and you find something that works really well for you. Answered by Verline Weir 1 year ago.
Well, is it a capsule or a tablet? A capsule would be ER and a tablet would be IR. However, if you were taking IR, I would think that you would take one in the morning and one around lunchtime. I think you are on the ER and they don't really last as long as they're supposed to. Just remember, what goes up, must come down! You can't be addied up all the time! Answered by Reyes Ligons 1 year ago.
If it were the extended relief it would last for more then 7-8 hours - that is the whole premise behind it being extended relief. My daughter takes the XR after the other wearing off too quickly. Answered by Nathaniel Motayen 1 year ago.

Ive been on concerta since feb and concerta kinda was getting old so my doctor put me on adderall xr?! I heard adderall is way atronger and will kill my hunger for awhile?? Will i feel a big difference?? What are the side effects
Asked by Thomas Volkens 1 year ago.
I have not taken Concerta, but I've been perscribed adderall for 10+ years so I can give you what to expect when starting on it. First, adderall is basically a very potent stimulant, so most stimulant side effects are going to be present. This includes laxative properties (after it kicks in you be rushing to the bathroom to get rid of everything in your stomach), jittery for at least the first few weeks, complete loss of appetite (I could go days without eating in college), and trouble sleeping. You will also notice you'll have the need to talk a LOT more. Basically, think of it as a 5-hour energy that lasts longer and stronger. The good new is that you can miss taking it and it won't have any effect other than being stronger when you do take it. For me, I only take it when I need to and don't take it on the weekends when I'm off work. It is a very potent drug, so make sure that you read up as much as you can before switching. Good luck and be safe! Answered by Jacques Hippenstiel 1 year ago.

Hi everyone, I know some of these question(s) have been posted online (yes, I did "research" and no, I'm not being "lazy") but was wondering if anyone would have any kind of specific advice for me (or even share your personal experience!): I was first prescribed about 3 months ago to take (1) a day, 20mg amphetamine salts( generic adderall) XR (extended release) capsule, for my A.D.D. Now, the extended release worked great and all, but I usually wasn't taking it EVERY single day because it was very hard to eat regularly and my sleep schedules were out of wack....needless to say I was sleep deprived more days of the week than not....which I hated! SO! I sometimes I would give myself a day or so to get rest, eat well and I found my balance with the medication...somewhat... Today, my doctor prescribed me with: (1) a day, 20mg amphetamine salts(generic adderall) *IR (Instant release)* and is now in *tablet form* What I'm curious about: 1.) How long does the instant release adderall tend to last "effectively" (e.g concentration) versus the extended release adderall? (XR hours vs.IR hours) Time in bloodstream difference? (If your really good, could you explain exactly what is in the make up of these two drugs that does this? ;D ) 2.)Whats the difference between the capsule and tablet? (could this possibly be what differentiates the extended release from the instant release?) 3). Anyone with personal experience of the 20mg extended and instant release (or anyone on adderall) is welcome to respond too! Recommendations of any kind would be greatly appreciated. Like recommended diet (food, drinks etc.) and anything your doctor recommended to you while taking it. 4).Also, I think (correct me if im wrong) I have a pretty fast metabolism because I am "always hungry" I eat something about every two hours...small meals throughout the day has always been me :P Ive never had a problem putting on weight or keeping off weight, either. What is the effect of having a high metabolism with adderall IR? (because I was informed the medication works with your metabolism.) A little about me: -21 years old -college -female -5"3 (or 4") -125 pounds (thin. but not anorexic. "meat on my bones" but not or overweight) -blood pressure is typically 120/80 (occasionally a bit higher or lower, but normal) -walking is my main exercise: everyday -heart rate is a bit higher than "normal" but I know more excercise would help...I also am a kind of "anxious person" -"a-type" personality -I hate getting less than 8 hrs of sleep a night...its hard for me to function the next day if I dont; I feel depressed, anxious, cranky etc) so for the most part I aim for 8 hrs every night and get about that :D Thanks for any information, tips, advice, and/or experiences you provide me with. All, and anything at all, is greatly appreciated!! Answered by Russell Wilm 1 year ago.
Extended release simply releases 20mg over X amount of time. The instant release allows all 20mg to release , well, instantly. So you should feel the effects of the adderall much more potently than with the extended release because more will be metabolized at one time. However, the duration is shortened because it is an 'all at once' method. The effects will last depending on your tolerance. Generally somewhere around 6-8 hours -- with residual insomnia and appetite suppression lasting longer. These effects, over time, with chronic use will lower. You will find the duration of 'benefit' will shorten over time if you continue to take this medication. It is your brain adapting to the neurotransmitters changing, and downregulating it's own supply. This is something you cannot stop and happens with most any psychogenic drug. This should help with your sleep -- best advice here is to take it early. This gives the residual effects time to metabolize out of your body. There is no difference in makeup in the two drugs -- the Extended release has binders in it and specific coatings/layers that your body can break down more slowly than instant release. Instant release forms are allowed to be broken down like any other normal pill,.. The active ingredient is no different. 2) Yes, the makeup of the pill/capsule/tablet itself is what makes the difference. 3) I do not take this medication. Though generally take it early if you have insomnia issues,.. take it with food, and monitor the side effects. You may need dosage adjustments up or down depending on your issues. 10mg may be just as effective and help with side effects. 4) Adderall as with all medication works with your metabolic activity. The body must break it down, and enzymatically feed it to the blood stream where it will cross the blood brain barrier. In general those with a fast metabolism will eliminate any drug faster than those with a slower one. Thus, the onset of effect of the drug will be faster, though on the flip side the duration is shorter. In the beginning before your brain adapts this may not be so apparent. Further, there is a misconception that amphetamines like this cause you to lose weight -- it is primarily the appetite suppression that causes the weight loss. There are some parasympathetic responses that cause some elevation of metabolic processes but they are homeostatically balanced over the long run. You may find a reduced appetite.. just be cognizant of this and maintain your normal diet.. and you shouldn't have problems with weight loss. Keep regular appointments with the prescribing doctor and even a journal of the effectiveness of the drug, duration, and side effects will help between appointments. The immediate release Adderall has a half life much shorter than the XR. It is approximately 10 hours but that varies due to other medications and weight. You are 125 #, so I suspect that you still have a lot of the long acting in your system when you are trying to sleep at night. You would be someone that would probably benefit more from taking the immediate release. Dr. Dean Answered by Ira Snavely 1 year ago.
