Cold sore with Abreva?
So my momma gave me this Abreva stuff for this nasty coldsore on my lip. How long will it take to disappear? Asked by Pinkie Kobler 5 months ago.

Well, Abreva really does not do a lot once the sore has erupted. So, it will last about the same amount of time, but will not get worse. Abreva works to safeguard the tissue surrounding the start of a cold sore, so they can not get inflammed and infected. So, next time you feel one coming, put the Abreva stuff on and you will not get more than a pinpoint dot (which will die really quickly with no cells to infect). But once the tissue is affected...it lasts the same amount of time whether you use the stuff or not. I would stick with Orajel till the one you have goes away. And be sure to reach for the Abreva before the next one erupts (when you feel that tingle of a new one). Answered by Faith Leveque 5 months ago.

probably a day or maybe a couple of hours because abriva won't make it just disappear in seconds of time Answered by Myrtle Martinea 5 months ago.

Is Abreva in good demand?
I noticed the cold sore cream Abreva is in stores and seems very pricey.. Is there a good demand in this product on the internet? If so how much should it be sold for? Only reply if youre actually going to answer my question.. Thanks Asked by Cristobal Alexopoulos 5 months ago.

Abreva is yet another scam perpetrated upon humanity by big pharma. The active ingredient, Docosanol, is cheaply synthesized from a natural precursor, and is only vaguely more effective than placebo. There are countless other things which cost a fraction of the extortionate price at which Abreva is sold, which are far, far more effective. The nature of your question is mildly unnerving, however. Hopefully, you've simply found overstock of Abreva at an especially low price and are interested in reselling it. Still, there's some concern that an individual might shoplift a small, expensive product like this and attempt to make a quick buck. Forgive me if this is not the case, as you can understand this is a common occurrence and warrants some suspicion. Of course, my suspicion is heightened by your other questions which appear to be related to counterfeiting. Watch out, dude. Big brother dusna like that kinda thing. A quick glance at Amazon shows tons of people offering it for sale, for as little as 8.50 (14.50 after shipping.) Unless you have a merchant account with plenty of good feedback already, people shopping online are likely to choose a vendor with a history of positive feedback. The other possible venue would be to undercut the lowest price by several dollars. Answered by Madison Fillip 5 months ago.

There is also a good demand for Abreva on the internet too. It is expensive because of the ingredients in it and because it works so good at getting rid of cold sores. The price you pay for it is the price you pay for getting rid of a cold sore and some people will pay anything to get rid of their cold sore. Answered by Nila Castenanos 5 months ago.

How old do you have to be to buy Abreva?
I have a cold sore & I really need to know if you have to be 18 to buy Abreva because I'm only 17. Asked by Dixie Benham 5 months ago.

You do not have to be 18. Abreva is an over the counter cream that you can get on the shelf. But Abreva does not work for me at all. I have been getting cold sores for years and I have used and tried literally everything. What I do works every single time and it dries it up within a day or two and it never advances or spreads to make new blisters. Buy tea tree oil, its around $10 or less, which is cheaper than Abreva but it works as an amazing drying agent. Also buy Campho Phenique. The virus that causes cold sores is fed by a protein called Arginine and is countered by an amino acid called Lysine. The most important thing I can tell you to buy is Lysine. It is in the vitamin/supplement aisle and is labeled as L-Lysine. It usually comes in 1000mg and 500mg tablets. I was intimidated to take unfamiliar supplements too but TRUST ME Lysine works amazingly. Okay now for what to do. I take a Q-tip and put drops of the tea tree oil on it and hold it on my lip for a reaaallly long time, I am talking like an hour maybe 30 minutes. Watch a movie or something while doing this. It will start to be kind of uncomfortable but if you really want it gone fast it works. After you have held the q-tip of tea tree oil on your cold sore (you may have to keep adding drops of tea tree oil to keep it moist) for about 30 minutes or more it will feel really dried out, which is good. Next take an ice cube hold it on your cold sore until it melts. You may want to do this with two ice cubes. Then repeat the process with the tea tree oil. Do it over and over until you have something else you really need to do like sleep. Before you go to sleep take Lysine. If they are 500mg take about 6-8 tablets of it but if they are 1000mg take about 3000-4000 mg which is 3-4 tablets. Do not overdo it on the Lysine, but too much of it cannot really hurt you as long as you don't take a ton. Only take this much Lysine when you actually have a cold sore. Take it before bed or whenever else your stomach is empty (it works best on an empty stomach) I take a lot when I first get a cold sore and then I start taking 1000mg to 3000mg while it is going away. I take it in increments of under 10,000mg total throughout the day while I have a cold sore. Everyday for a month or two after I get that cold sore I take 1000mg of Lysine a day to prevent cold sores. I started doing this and I haven't gotten one since. When you go to bed or to town or to school since you cannot really do the tea tree oil routine I always take Campho Phenique with me and apply it throughout the day to help dry it out. I also use an antibacterial ointment called Bacitracin over top of everything during the day and night to protect the cold sore from getting infected and to also help it heal. Bacitracin is a really amazing ointment to use on anything. You also want to avoid foods that are high in Arginine and eat more foods that contain Lysine, especially when you have a cold sore. Foods high in Arginine are: seeds, nuts, soy, shrimp, crab, lobster, spinach, gelatin, turkey, fish (just avoid seafood), and I avoid chocolate. Foods high in Lysine include: Yogurt, cheese, papaya, milk, ice cream, butter (basically all dairy), apricots, apples, avocado, pear. This all varies depending on the preparation of the meats and fish but personally I just avoid all seafood and some meats when I have a cold sore. I try to eat a lot of dairy and fruits. I hope all of this helps. Once your cold sore seems to be mostly gone apply the anti-bacterial ointment constantly in order to keep the skin from cracking and to help it heal up nicely. Should I put Abreva or Neosporin on my cold sore?
Ive been using Abreva on my cold sore. Its close to being "healed" - its no longer raised, ect. However, it is reall dry now! I brushed my teeth & it caused it to bleed. Should I continue with the Abreva, or should I switch to something else....like Neosporin. Asked by Hedy Vicars 5 months ago.

The instructions are to use Abreva five times a day until the sore is healed. You can alternate between Abreva and a lip balm or vaseline (I see no good reason to use Neosporin). Just make sure you don't "double dip" in the vaseline (touch your sore, then touch the vaseline inside the jar). When the sore is completely gone, throw the lip balm away (and the vaseline if you did accidentally contaminate it). You can also moisturize your lips well just before bed and use Abreva only during the day. In the FAQs for Abreva, it says you can also use cosmetics over Abreva. So, if you want, you can use a non-medicated lip balm or vaseline over the Abreva. I wouldn't use anything medicated over it. Edit - The difference between Neosporin and Vaseline as far as healing goes is that Neosporin has antibiotics in it. Antibiotics are drugs. You should not use a medicated ointment in conjunction with another drug - Abreva - because there could be interactions. The antibiotic, furthermore, is completely unnecessary. The cold sore is caused by a virus, and will not be affected by an antibiotic. Not only that, but there's very little risk of bacterial infection in a sore that is close to being healed. The important thing, if you want something dry to heal, is to keep it moisturized. Vaseline will do that just as well as Neosporin, and for a fraction of the cost. Once the tingling is gone and its begining to scab up (if you were unlucky enough to not have treated it in time before it broke the surface,) abreva is basically a waste and will probably continue to further dry and exacerbate the likelihood of cracking/bleeding, adding time to full recovery. Not to mention that 2oz is like $18. At that point, you can switch over to something like neoporin or even a "thick" but oil free moisturizer. But medicated ones are preferred, I would guess, and from my own experience. But don't inundate it with goop as it still probably needs to breathe for a couple hours, then reapply, then breathe. Approx. how long does a cold sore last when treated with abreva?
I just started using it today when i noticed a bump on my lip. Im going to hawaii aug. 5 so i just wanted to know if it'll heal by then..thanks for any help! Asked by Hellen Kula 5 months ago.

I wanted Abreva to help, but no luck. And it cost me a fortune. The good news is, no matter what you use or don't use, that cycle will be winding down by the fifth of August, so smile. I found (pardon my spelling) Camphophenique worked very well, but it is very strong, so don't leave it on too long or it will burn a little as well as dry it up for you. My friend Kathy uses rubbing alcohol. (She worked in an operating room.) She dabs her cold sore (when it is active) with rubbing alcohol, several times a day (more than five times - often), and she told me this keeps the area absolutely clean and that rubbing alcohol has a drying effect on the cold sore, which is what you want. When it is on your own face it looks as big as a melon. I even had a friend say this to me once: "Oh, I see that thing is back on your face again." And I just let his remark hang in the air for a few minutes while I just looked at him in silence. It was rather awful. But anyway, it will be gone very close to the fifth of August. It will have wound down enough so you can cheat a little and discreetly mask it with just a very tiny amount of makeup if it bothers you in public. My heart goes out to you because now and then when I am upset, mine will become active. If you haven't experienced a cold sore, you can't explain how upsetting it is to someone who hasn't I mean, it's a big thing. But maybe what I have told you will help to make it a small thing, which is what it should be. By all means, anyone you feel you can ask, do ask. Get all the feedback you possibly can about it, because sooner or later you will discover one thing which will nail this annoying issue, and keep it small and quick, instead of big and slow. Cheer up. You're going to be okay by the fifth. The day it will be a done deal is the 8th. So you can fake it for three days without it blowing your cover with just a little makeup. I really am sorry you have to go through this one.... you take good care now, and have a great time in Hawaii, cold sore or no cold sore. You know, I'll bet swimming in the Pacific Ocean would be great for drying it up because that is salt water! Sent with love from Chris, in South Portland, Maine, U.S.A. I have never used Abreva, but when I start to get a cold sore I take a couple of Shakee Herb Lax. It is not strong, but will help heal the inside problem that is causing the cold sore. If your lip looks bad, just think what your stomach looks like. Just continue to one or two a day until it is gone. It is all natural, so is not like medicine. Hope it is better soon. The dried fowl strips are the nice! Their simplest factor is fowl. Also investigate out the others like lamb, and duck w/candy potato. I have a ten month ancient dalmation and the only factor I did not notice once we introduced her residence was once that their stomachs are VERY touchy. We have on no account given her uncooked conceal when you consider that of that challenge. However she loves the dried meat treats. Unfortunatly I recognize that you're watching for some thing to be able to final an extended even as and that's what I was once shopping for too. It simply is not in the market. The lamb with candy potato treats final approximately 1min a work and that's the longest one when you consider that the candy potato is sort of chewy. They are satisfactory treats, however the teething factor goes to be a regular chore for you till your doggy eventually will get over it. FYI- mine is 10 months and continues to be no longer over chewing on the whole lot, however she has found out plenty. That offers us wish for the longer term. I wish this is helping! Don't use abreva, it takes forever to go away or at least mine did. It will probably last about 5 days, drink a lot of water and use zilactin instead for next time. I hope you have fun on your trip and your cold sore goes away! Answered by Dorie Stuffle 5 months ago.
